IPOH: Kinta River is set to become a tourist spot with the introduction of water-related activities by the state government.

State Tourism Committee chairman Datuk Hamidah Osman said a discussion would be held with Ipoh City Council to determine the kind of activities that are suitable.

“For a start, we may offer kayaking along the river for tourists and the city folk,” she told reporters after closing the SMK Pengkalan Green-thon Programme at Kinta riverfront yesterday.

Hamidah said a river cruise would be offered by Morubina Group of Companies, which was undertaking a RM200mil development project along the 1.2km stretch of the river.

“The cruise will start from Taman D.R. Seenivasagam to the Kinta riverfront,” she said, adding that more activities would be introduced from time to time.

She said efforts to make Kinta River an engine of growth for tourism activities was in line with the state’s ambition in making the industry the second biggest income earner for Perak.

On the initiative by SMK Pengkalan students and teachers in throwing 13,000 mudballs enriched with micro organisms into Kinta River, Hamidah called on everybody to help preserve the environment.

”The state government welcomes corporate bodies, private entities or non-governmental organisations in efforts to preserve the environment,” she said.

Kinta River has been classified under Class IV category by the Drainage and Irrigation Department, which is only fit for irrigation.

Good to on and off stay tune Team Keris Berhad homepage but they seem to have stop updating information.... maybe you can see it soon since they already getting the paper work done.

the land look quite big. look like bigger than Kinta city's....but how big is the building is a ??? I foresee Jln Pasir Putih to Pengkalan stretch will be another traffic nightmare...sometimes the junction near SPPK area is jamming at night too....then the road from pengkalan to simpang pulai might have the same problem. Hope they really start thinking about expanding the road from pengkalan to simpang pulai.

Now they are working on expanding the T junction that let you turn to Batu Gajah after a few major accident happened.

Looking at the size of the land, it may not be larger than Kinta City. Anyway, for sure heavier traffic will congest the Pengkalan area, hopefully traffic system upgrade will be considered.

who have tried the new ETS? I haven't but a friend told me there's much to be improved.... it seem the booking system not up yet...you cannot do booking...you can only buy ticket on the spot and which platform the train will stop seem not clearly indicated at KL or Ipoh...so everyone have to gather at the signboard for update info....well its need but hope they fix it fast.....but still RM40 after promo season finished really turn me off....pricing seem high.

A dream in the making at Sunway City Ipoh
Wednesday August 18, 2010
http://thestar.com.my/metro/story.as...6501&sec=North

IMAGINE breathing fresh air whenever you walk past homes adorned with gardens and surrounded by lakes, limestone hills and hot springs.

When evening comes, you make a quick trip to a hypermarket to do some shopping and dining, and then back to your cosy home to relax with your family when night falls.

It may sound like a dream but it can be a reality if you own one of the townhouses at the MontBleu Residence in Sunway City Ipoh, Perak.

MontBleu Residence comprises 220 units of three-storey townhouses surrounded by lush greenery with a 25ft wide backyard garden.

Priced from RM399,000 to RM682,400 each, the 4.45ha project is yet another gated and guarded community in Sunway City Ipoh.

”As Sunway City Berhad’s first townhouse development in Ipoh, we have continued our successful ‘Lifestyles of Health & Sustainability’ philosophy which promotes green and sustainable development for a better quality of life,” said Sunway City (Ipoh) Sdn Bhd assistant general manager Wong Wan Wooi.

He said the facilities included a clubhouse with a swimming pool, gym, multi-purpose court, barbecue pit, reflexology path, outdoor gym, and children’s playground.

As Perak’s largest integrated township spanning 526ha, Sunway City Ipoh is easily accessible from Ipoh City through Jalan Tambun, and the new slip road from the North-South Expressway on the same road.

With a gross development value of about RM93mil, MontBleu Residence will be launched on Sept 10 and the project is expected to be completed within three years.

The developer is offering a promotion by waiving the transfer legal fee and offering a 95% loan via banks through a Developer Interest Bearing Scheme (DIBS).

For details, contact the Ipoh Sales Office at 05-548 6668 or via email at suncityipoh@sunway.com.my or visit their website at www.sunwaycity.com.

Identify city centre first, says Gerakan
The Star

IPOH: The state government must first identify where exactly the city centre is before implementing a light rail transit (LRT) service.

Perak Gerakan secretary See Tean Seng said the LRT service, proposed in the Ipoh Draft Local Plan 2020, lacked focus as the Ipoh City Council’s Town and Country Planning Department had failed to identify where Ipoh Central was.

It was impossible, he said, to come up with any proposals before first deciding where the city centre was.

In our opinion, the main business centre is now Greentown,” See told reporters here yesterday.

According to the draft plan, which is being displayed for public viewing until Sunday, the proposed LRT service would connect the city centre with Meru Raya, Menglembu, Station 18 in Pengkalan, Simpang Pulai and Tanjung Rambutan.

Maju Perak Plans International-Standard Water Theme Park In Batu Gajah

IPOH, Aug 17 (Bernama) -- Maju Perak Bhd, an investment company wholly-owned by the Perak government, plans to build an international-standard water theme park on a 121-hectare former tin mining area in Batu Gajah.

Chairman Datuk Seri Raja Ahmad Zainuddin Raja Omar said the project would become Perak's new tourist hot spot.

It would be implemented through a joint venture with an experienced company from China but the cost of construction had not been finalised, he told reporters on Tuesday.

He said Maju Perak would sign an agreement with the company next week.

"The theme park will create job opportunities for the local residents and boost the local economy," he said.

He also said Maju Perak would open another oil palm plantation in the state.

As long as the LRT line passes through every happening and populated area, is that so important to define where is the city center in this matter?
