Louisville Courts II...Other Old Louisville courts.

Althoug Belgravia and Fountain Courts have the grandest victorian houses, the Old Louisville neighborhood has other pedestrian courts, illustrating quite a variety of residential architecture.

So, a tour of some the "lesser" courts of Old Louisville.

Floral Court

...just outside the gates in the above pix is this industrial area. One of the things that makes Louisville so interesting, particularly the older parts, is that the character of the city can change very quickly, making the place seem perhaps larger than it is...neighborhoods and districts can be small, but are very distinct from each other...creating visual variety...

..back to Floral Court....

Fountain in the middle of the court....

looking back out the court...

now, for something completely different...a court of apartment houses...

Kesington Court

Pedestrian Courts are seen on the West Coast, as "Bungalow Courts". This is a Louisville bungalow court....

Arcade Court

A few brief pix of a private court...Ouerbacher Court, together with Julian Court, are in a sort of midblock T-arrangement. But not accessible to casual passersby due to the gate...

Ouerbacher Court

Though Old Louisville has a concentration, courts and pedestrian streets are found tucked into neighborhoods all around the older parts of Louisville. A forthcoming thread will show some neighborhood courts, with more generous yards and lawns.

There are a couple of "courts" in Richmond. One we used to call English Ciourt on Grove Avenue.

And then there's Byrd Park Court. I'm hoping that Worldcoupe4 will post his photos of it together with beautiful Byrd Park and pastoral Maymont.

And if he has already posted them, I apologize. Between this and other forums, it's difficult to keep track of what has been posted where.

It would be great to see some of those Richmond courts...I'd find that pretty interesting. Hopefully someone will post some pix of them.

These are great!
I love walking through Floral court. Very nice with the brick and attractive landscaping.
Thanks for showing these smaller courts!
