So for 2006 new station Hostivař as been opened and StŘížkov is planned for opening in 2007, probably Prosek for 2008, so it´s like every year is at least one new station opened.

^ That's the one side of the coin, the better one. Another is, that the costs of the construction are overpriced and politicians are wasting our money. Original budget for this line was 7 billions Kč, nowadays is estimated that final costs will reach 16 billions Kč... it's a tunnel...

Wonder what is your source of reasoning. Corruption happens, and it happens everywhere around the world. And I dont like it either. But I wonder why you think Metro is overcharging. You know how it works, the city starts a project and then companies bid to build it while the city supervises it. I think Prague metro is great and I preffer for the metro to be built underground rather then above ground even though its cheaper. Plus why would Prague city officials overcharge the project for their own gain when they have hard time financing it as the state does not give anything for the construction. So yes, I am sceptical of your statement above. And I know there are people that question everything that the city builds, there are lots of conservative people in Prague that make faulse acusations without facts. Although I am sure some of it may be true, when you have actual source to back up your accusasion I would preffer you include it in your statements to give more value to your words. I am attaching a new article below about Strizkov station which has the arche above it. The article explains construction of underground pathway that will be built before the opening of the station in the summer 2008 and will include shops. The underground pathway will be 30 meters long and 25 meters wide. Bude dlouhý třicet a široký pětadvacet metrů. Počítáme s tím, že zde budou obchody a služby,“ potvrdil mluvčí Metrostavu František Polák. Kvůli stavbě však budou zuřit řidiči; dělníci totiž uzavřou oba jízdní pruhy Vysočanské ulice ve směru do Vysočan. „Toto omezení bude dlouhé, potrvá až do konce srpna,“ dodal Polák. Přemístěn bude i vjezd na blízké parkoviště. Řidiči, kteří zde chtějí zaparkovat, budou muset přejet po provizorní cestě přes travnatou plochu. Konečnou podobu v prvních měsících příštího roku získá také stanice. Betonový skelet totiž dostane skleněný plášť. První soupravy metra by měly novou trasou projet v roce 2008. |

You know how projects works, the city starts a project and then companies bid to build it while the city supervises it. Just because someone at some point estimated costs are 7 billion does not mean they took in effect all the construction costs. Plus if you look below, maybe they added more functionality, such as shops in the underpass which costs more. Plus add in the inflation and increased taxes for year 2008 on construction projects and more money is added. I think Prague metro is great and I preffer for the metro to be built underground rather then above ground even though its cheaper. You probably live in Washington for a long time, so you don't know how it works here. Politicians and construction lobby created one mafia group, that sponge off our money. Almost every public order is overpriced. You are inexperienced if you think that politians have hard time with financing. They don't mind, as an excuse for overpricing they use either obstructions by ecologist movements or disfavor of destiny... CZ is one of the most corrupted states in Europe. And people are stupid, they still vote for the same politicians. Mass media are useless, journalists are interested only in useless informations (gutter press)... Controlling authorities are either inefficient or they are part of state mafia as well... But I would rather leave this topic for now... |

I know that corruption and overpricisng is problem in the most of transition countries, but CZ is really getting into serious problems now. Corruption rate is increasing constantly for many years. We have simply too much spongers and mafians here, it started in the 90ties and getting from bad to worse since than... |

So, the line is being built with "cut and cover" technic, not tunneling?

only minor part between Prosek and Střížkov (cca 1km which is visible on the picture) and stations, remaining 3,6 kms of the line are being tunneled.

Good picture, kokpit, I love such a detailed drawings.
Btw, I´ ve always thought the metro goes under earth in approximately same depth /the measure could be the height above the sea level/, but slight differences are there on the track itseldf and also between the stations. Could it be tens of meters, or maybe more? |

There are altitudes so you can see what the differences are. They're rather units of metres on this section. But from Ládví track goes to Kobylisy and then down the hill and pass under Vltava river, that's quite steep section on this C line.
