Very beautiful system. Don't know why I didn't use it when I last visited Praha? Well, that's for next time, then.

Great photos headshottt!

As for your comment Kokpit, How do we know if a project is overpriced?

You can hardly compare, depends on the way the metro system is built, the complexity of terrain and stations as well as what materials are used!

Honestly, I rather it be overpriced, best technology be used and good architecture/design used in construction of underground metro then for it to be over the ground, cheap and simple. You know the stations could have been made small, and cheap and yes, it would not cost as much, but it would be borring and other then the efficiency would not bring anything pleasing to the eyes of the residence living in the area.

In Washington DC, for example, it took 10 years to decide on an extension of metro to the Dulles International Airport (the largest airport in the area). And because of the money it will be built obove ground and go through residential area and through shopping mall on pillars. It will not look estetically pleasing, take up more land space above ground and cause more havoc, but yes, it will be cheaper then the underground version.

Money is not always everything!

I did some research for you, cause I´m quite intrested in this stuff.

Those soviet ones (81-71) were modernised some 10 years ago in Plzeň into 81-71M. I think all of them. And on the C line are since 1998 operating new M1 ones constructed in ČKD (now Siemens AG). These are even cheaper than soviet ones because are constructed from lighter materials. For instance operation costs for 1 km ride of the older ones costed 21 Kč and for the M1 it is 10 Kč.

By the way Prague metro has the best logo I´ve ever seen. Great design!

No, they are still being modernised. Right now, the whole A-line is covered with 81-71M, and approximately half of line B.
On line C, Siemens M1 trains are in service, there are 48 of them (this will also be sufficient for the new extended line to Letnany)
