New render of the super casino / hotel that's hopefully destined for the Sports Village:

Didn't read all the comments but this is a blatant duplicate (minus a few architectural tweakings) of the ontario tower in london!

That said, some good stuff being presented here. Good one Cardiff!

The status of the projects are indicated on the front page.
The casino is a long way off and it's possibility of even getting built is dependent on the government awarding the City the licence to build a supercasino.
As for the others, the glass needle site has been cleared and it is due to begin construction any time now.
I believe Prospect Place Block T has started construction
Admiral House should be almost finished by now
Celestia is under construction
Wood Wharf is under construction
Meridian Gate is approved, the site is cleared and it should begin construction soon
St Davids 2 shopping centre is approved and demolition of existing buildings followed by construction work is due to begin in the next few months.
The Bay Pointe residential towers are more certain than the casino but it will probably be a few years before they get built anyway.

Cool projects, hopefully they'll all become reality. I lived in Cardiff for 2 years, at the marina in Penarth. Nice place.

Not sure, I think it might not be until the end of 2006.
Meanwhile here are some new pics of the Sports Village complex including the casino, hotel and sports facilities taken from www.cardiff.gov.uk

Enjoy:

Amazing renders!! but one thing doesn't the snow box remind you of the watercube in beijing with white bits over it?

Yeah, I think that render of the snow box on the first page was never the actual design though, I imagine it was just something to illustrate the BBC news article from which it was taken (as was the render of the observation tower and the swimming pool). If you look on the map at the vaguely triangular building shaded in orange and yellow, the yellow bit is labeled as the snow box so I assume that it is inside and will look nothing like the earlier render. The observation tower is the pole with the three pods on it that you can see on some of the renders and the swimming pool is the oval shaped building (in blue on the map).
