Well, I better get accepted to Berkeley, I don't want to end on the "other" less important ones.

Apply to UW (ok, I'm biased)
And with out of state tuition, maybe that would be a bad idea, anyway.

If you don't make it into Berkely, then UCSD and UCLA are also in the top 20 in the world.

Someone post pictures of UC Davis! I hear that one is super spread-out.

I've done a Summer Session last year at UC Berkeley. At the Haas Business School to be more precise. I had an absolute fantastic time there. Great campus, great faculty, friendly people and great wheather. Because of that, I am probably going to do my second Summer Session with a good friend this coming summer.

I'll resize a few pics and post them here.

True, it gets as expensive as a private college without the in state tuition reduction.

The original pictures of this thread looked at UC as having three major campuses: Cal, UCLA, UCSD.

Conventional wisdom usually sees two: Cal and UCLA.

No put down to San Diego, an excellent university, but do most Californians see UC as having two or three flagships?

Are you the guy who said he was mad at Cal because you weren't accepted there? Or have I mistaken you for another SD forumer?

By the way, I have aerials of almost all the UCs. I'll post them later.

Big deal, UCSD is a nice school (my hometown's UC), but its mediocre next to Berkeley.

Berkeley is 1st on English, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, and German. It's also 2nd on Classics, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Political Science, and History.

So no offense to UCSD, but suck on that UCSD!

Can't all UC's just get along?

I think of the University of California system as one huge University (with different branches spread throughout the state) that's arguably the most prominent, most envied, most productive in the world. If a UC professor is awarded the Nobel Prize, it's a win for the whole UC system. If UCLA wins the Rose Bowl it's a win for the UC system as well. Heck, they even have to take care of the Los Alamos Nuclear Lab in New Mexico.

Of course not! I thought Oceanography would go to Santa Cruz.

I know it's going to be awhile until they build another UC, but San Jose is the largest city in California not to have a UC. Do you think SJ will be the next to have one or should another another deserving city get it.

SF: UCSF
Sac: Davis
LA: UCLA
SD: UCSD
Oak: Berkeley (originally located in Oak before it moved)
SJ: UCSJ?

Any more pics of other UCs? I want to see Merced sinced in opened a few months ago.

Not familiar with SJ but is there any space for a large university there? If so then it only makes sense for the "Capital of Silicon Valley" to have its own UC.

But San Jose has a CSU, with two UC's close by. I think it would make sense to put it somewhere where they don't have either a UC or CSU.

That's why we were given UC Merced. By this point the UC system should focus on trying to push the smaller satellite campuses towards the quality of Cal, UCLA, and UCSD.
