Wow. I congratulate my Finnish friends if "Tähtitorni" proposal really will be built. It would be an impressive landmark.
~!"#%"!#, we should get at least one 40storey scraper in Tallinn!

I also hope that this project will see some daylight but I'm trying not to get too excited since we all know how these things work around here.. But believe me, I'll post every new piece of information here when I hear/read some news!

Official homepage for this project have been opened! They have added some storeys to tower and now it haves 40 floors instead of 37!
http://www.tahtitorni.fi/

This is good start! Hopefully construction will start soon.

TÄHTITORNI up to 40-floors!

A website has now been opened for Tähtitorni: www.tahtitorni.fi

Some new renders have been released as well:

Some suites:

The Amfi Areena, a concert hall (?) adjacent to the tower:

Dunno... What about Gothia Towers for example? Well they are two different towers (and was there a third one proposed??) but it counts as one hotel though

Novak, do you know about Talo, the Finnish forum where Finnish discussion on projects, photos and everything urban takes place? If you ever wondered why there's barely any Finnish forumers at SSC, it's because of http://talo.sw2000.net We've long since migrated there.

Tähtitorni has extremely strong backing and the city seems to be in favour. It's not just some vision, but a serious proposal that is now taking in investors. As stated before, it's not an ordinary hotel, but rather an investment instrument. Companies and individuals will buy the rooms, which will then generate profit for them with stable interest rate of 5,2% + additional rate which is calculated by the vacancy rate. Owners of the hotel rooms can use the rooms at a lower cost.

All depends on how succesfully the company can attract investors. If all goes well and the city aproves everything (this part is very likely), it will be finished by 2010.

There's about eighty high-rise projects under construction/proposed/approved here at the moment, but I could easily be without ~twenty of them (buildings of some fourteen-twenty stories) than not having this one built.

Sad to say, but looks like that howl project is in the "ice".
Maybe caused by NIMBYs.

It's so sad if they don't build this unique building!

Seems it will be the tallest building in Finland if built! And 2nd tallest in Scandinavia & Baltics area! Let´s hope it get built!

What about the miniature construction vehicles behind the glass? Is it some kind of theme?

hmmm I like the height and storey count but must say thats the only thing I really like about this project.

And those renderings are just plain bad. The one on the front page is even rendered orthographically

I believe this project is more or less dead. The original concept didn't work, as there weren't enough reservations.

It's not dead, but they are changing it to some kind of exclusive apartment building. Dunno about the details.

from inside rooms in this hotel is just fantastic!! Window like whole wall, triangle shape, furniture... But from outside this architecture is close to shit.

Nothing. The website of this "project" states that they'll be back with some new information in early 2009.... so it's more than safe to categorize this under "dead".

I couldn't remember this one.... But it seems to be before my time! I guess the threadtitle "new 37-storey (...)" is a bit misleading.
To bad about the project death. A real tall building could suit Finland, and Tampere city Maybe next time in a bit more central locartion!
