just a side point on that: To Kill A Mockingbird is one of the most overrated books in history, in my humble opinion, first time I read it I could not believe what I was reading (not in a good way), I kept waiting and waiting for the point where the book was going to magically turn into this unbelievably great piece of literature that I have never once heard anyone say a bad word about....never happened. The trial in the last half to two thirds of the book was fairly gripping, and of course the underlying message about racism in the deep south is a powerful one and quite extraordinary considering the time it was written...but I'm sorry that does not, a great book, make! First half of the book...absolute boring twaddle!I am in the total minority on that opinion I know but...I had to say it, because no-one else ever seems to agree,

Perhaps it was to do with the time in which the book was released? Same thing with the movie.

This is certainly provoking a thought from me. Mostly where's the spoon so I can gouge out my eyes.
