If you look at this picture of the Japanese surrender, you will see there is something wrong with it:

Most Canadians I know hate the new flag (but then again I do tend to move in very Commonwealth-friendly circles). It is interesting that many English-speaking Canadians have re-adopted the old red ensign as a backlash against perceived favouritism towards Quebec. This is particularly evident in the Canadian blogoshere. I do know that many Canucks are fiercely proud of their flag, so I’m not trying to cause any offence! |

Well, it was a decisive moment. We won't know what would have happened if he had been crushed.

a fatally injured woman breast feeds her baby surrounded by corpses in rwanda in 1994. the shocking thing is itn got footage of a massacre, showed a single death and were fined for it. you can see river phoenix play the cameraman in "hotel rwanda".

Eh? River Phoenix is dead (unless I am missing something). Not wishing to provke a raging debate, but the Rwanda and Yugoslavia conflicts should have been the end of the UN as a non-humanitarian organisation. I was ashamed to be British, European, but most of all ashamed to be part of the UN when those happened. The thing about pictures like this is that for every one you seen, there are a hundren others, and some a hundred times worse.

You will excuse me if I say I didn't fancy seeing dead childred when I went on SSC this morning.
Saw something similar to this in a newspaper gauging people's reactions as to what they thought first of all when the saw a picture quite like this one. Italians and French people in particular thought it was quite innocent, Irish and Brittish people didn't. A few years ago perhaps they might have.

I don't understand, that could quite plausibly be a father and son. Any problem with that picture is entirely in the minds of those with the problem.
![]() This has got to be one of the greatest 'world event' images ever. Something about the contrast in size and power. I could have sworn i heard the army just shot that guy?
