"Official photos with camo" was ridiculous enough in the automotive industry, now we get this idiocy in railways as well?

Maybe the camo is there to prevent having to clean the locomotive once the test runs have completed? I can imagine all kinds of splattered insects on the loco's front and sides...

You'd have to clean it one way or another.

And of course nobody could have guessed it would look like this (this is the exact same 102 001-5):

And if it was to keep the loco clean, they could have used foil in the same colour as the loco itself.

That was a good guess, but:
- they used the specific camo used in the automotive for test vehicles*
- they covered the side logo too!

I'm afraid they want to copy the -despicable- "teaser strategy"... let's see if there will be some sort of marketing campaign behind this.
(the fact that we're discussing it would already be part of it)

* It was originally meant for sending out test vehicles on open roads without revealing design details, and catching one always makes the news in the field... and it was then evolved by marketing into a progressive undressing of the car to reveal more and more and tease the public.

So lately some fool crossed the line and had the great idea of staging official fake "stolen" photos with cars perfectly finished, built up setting, studio lighting... and camo

Latest example:

Football fans, always the kings among men...

I've been on a RE200 between Nürnberg and München a few years ago, with a similar horde of barbarians, and it was not nice. They were throwing glass bottles at people, we had to abandon the coach. The situation was completely out of control, and the Polizei intervened only in München Hbf. I didn't like how the situation was completely left on its own.

I also read that in this case they attacked other random people in stations, screamed anti-semitic and anti-gay slogans, and in the end trashed the train:

Beautiful people...

Wow..good to hear that valued at around $244m, the contract requires Bombardier to supply 43 of the trains, including 24 three-car and 19 five-car sets. The new trains will be operated on the Stuttgart regional network in Baden-Württemberg's Neckar Valley region in Germany.

Does anybody know how fast those are supposed to be going? I can't read the UIC chart in this picture...

Currently the regional trains on the Nürnberg-Ingolstadt-München line reach up to 210km/h

The loco itself is designed for 200 km/h, but I remember DB ordered them rated at 190 km/h to spare on some requirements (something like the odd 249 km/h). I find some confused info about this point.

I don't think the RE200 can do more than... 200 good old BR 101s are rated for 220 km/h, but the coaches won't allow more than 200.

The Aachen/ Stolberg Euroregiobahn ring has been opened.

Quote:
The line had closed to passenger services in 1984 and reactivation required two years of construction work. Reopening enables Euregiobahn services from Stolberg Hbf to run in a loop via Alsdorf, Herzogenrath and Aachen back to Stolberg Hbf, continuing towards Langerwehe or Stolberg Altstadt.
Are they still joining and splitting the trains at Stolberg now?

The model on the lower photo seems to be the standard pantograph model used on the Skoda 109E. This model however is quite uncommon in the DB fleet, so DB probably opted for a German standard model instead, to ease maintenance.

You can see a substantial number of differences: Not only the pantographs, but also the markings on the grey part, the equipment on the roof and the cabin doors differ. In fact, I now have a sneaking suspicion the lower one is either a a photoshop or a test unit wrapped in DB colours.

I still find it sad though that Skoda couldn't make their original design, which had a much rounder front end, work safety wise. This front end doesn't look bad, but the original design would have looked awesome:
