Wow Mexico City looks great, a beautiful mix of colonial and modern architecture.

How's the crime situation over there?

It's sad to say that crime is plaguing Mexico City more than 10 years ago due to the current severe economic situation of most of mexicans. The gap between wealth and poverty has increased all over the country and the cities are very insecure. Those amazing pics show just a very little part of the city where wealthy people live, but about 75% of the city is impoverished. where crime and informal sector is becoming a major social and economic problem.

Well, crime is the city's major problem, but if you come as a tourist to the city I don't think you will be affected by crime.
But the most sad thing is that the actual goverment of the city is not investing enough in public security.
