They've bought the Eclipse site. The render is just an old one they've used (I hope :-P)

I can't make my mind up whether these should be demolished to make way for a cutting edge modern building (not that these are that ancient I guess), or whether just a simple re-cladding would do the job.

I understand they have applied for planning permission to extend the building, but I thought the lease was up in a few years time.

I wish V1 and Metier were not the same height. It looks like the condo's built in a city not so far away.

Hopefully the Weston Tower will address this and provide a pinnacle to the relatively flat (but dense) skyline down this part of town.

Is anyone else becoming increasingly concerned with the way Velocity is looking from the back, ie very bland a la metier! (when viewed from penistone road). Sorry no pics.

I would assume there are future plans to build something tall that would block this view - or at least I hope so.

Any thoughts?

V2 and V3 are under construction at the moment, and V2 will be about as tall as the point up to the setback.

Don't know if people are already aware, but I noticed today that the 3D images on http://local.live.com have been updated and are now very good quality compared to what they used to be.

I've pasted an example below of the V1,2 & 3 building sites. My guess is that the satelite photo was taken mid-summer.

The material is copyrighted so I probably wont leave it on for long.

its all looking very good now, from what i saw today v2 & v3 are several floors up now and making quite an impact. i managed to snap a couple of v1 though
