Nice pictures! I like the first few, rarely see Park Hill and the city centre from that view.

Cheers mate, had an interesting walk. Went up to Hyde Park too though didn't take any pictures. Have to say that I'm not a massive fan of the 90's renovations up close, though the blue one looks better than the red. Park Hill's renovated wing looks so much better.

Found some more interesting articles and photos of Park Hill on the web:

and just prior to renovation:

Any update? Was wondering if anyone had been on the tour and would recommend it? Or when the show flats might be ready?

The landscaping is starting to be planted/grassed and is looking good. Although I think the best outcome of these photos is that it is now possible to see 'the cut' i.e. the 4 storey gap at the entrance, although not as dramatic as originally intended i think its very effective.

This is looking absolutely brilliant. Hella good's photos do a great job of selling the park as an exceptional events space - bit of Shakespeare in the arena on a summer's evening, with Sheffield in the background anyone? Maybe some live music? - and the offices in the lower two floors as desirable commercial premises - again, think of how good that view's going to look to tenants when you're marketing the units.

Looking at them, I got that proper lump-in-my-throat "This is actually going to work!" feeling.

Maybe they could use the arena for the snooker next year. Would be good to see a little exhibition match on there with the city in the background. They've had these games going off in the city in the past in the train station etc.

I thought it would also be quite cool for tramlines, and its next to the actual tramlines only thing is that there arent any units around the area to cater for particular events, i know theres going to be one built at the top but one of the great things about the devonshire green as an outdoor space is that its surrounded by bars and shops

Hopefully the amphitheatre will be surrounded by bars and shops if Park Hill becomes a success ::

The section which has been redeveloped looks superb! Makes a real difference when you come into Sheffield by train seeing the newly renovated Park Hill as opposed to the old run down version. Gives the city a fresh look.

Sooner they start on the other blocks the better.

That's actually a really good idea! Wonder if it'll be used for it. Would make a great World Music Stage or the like.

Anyone know what the white building in the middle of the picture was?

They look like flats to me. You can see the balconies on the block the furthest away(facing this way - sticking out on the right hand side).

Obviously they fell in to a poor state but there's something even more sad about the loss of the upper Hyde Park buildings and Embassy Court. Look at the fine condition and standard they were built to/kept in judging by that photo - and the density gives that area a feel it just doesn't have now.
