Yeah, we'd heard rumours that HSBC were wanting to move to a new HQ in the Castlemore site (the Westbar development). Unfortunatly it would only be shifting people around within the centre. Cheers for the confirmation.

I think that might have been the plan all along with the NRQ. Should mean it turns out well, and wont be so generic.

Doesn't the lease on the Pennine Centre run out in a few years?

I'm sure my dad had a look at our family tree a while back and I'm seeing him in less than a few hours. I always liked the dutch.

Isn't it that project that Larven posted on the city centre apartments thread?

Finally

After several hundred walks past the dodgy end of west street finally we start to see a glimmer of hope for the area...

I saw an advert for a new bar in a sheffield magazine today. The bar is called "Listed" and the location is - morton works!! The advert said the bar would open sometime this month and would be very exclusive, strict dress code, no nonsense etc. Exciting stuff. Leopold square's doing perhaps...

Not city centre, but good news all the same.

Quote:
£200MILLION REGENERATION PLANS FOR DARNALL, ATTERCLIFFE AND TINSLEY

Proposals for a £200million regeneration scheme for Darnall, Attercliffe, and Tinsley will be presented to Sheffield City Council’s Cabinet at their meeting on 13 June.

The proposals will strengthen the housing market in the area, making them areas people continue to choose to live in. The plans include new housing, shops, business premises, and community facilities, as well as environmental improvements, and improved transport links.

The projects are:

· An improved commercial centre for Darnall (subject of a further report in July)

· A canal side development in the Ripon Street and Stoke Street area, including around 150-200 new houses

· New housing to replace industrial buildings along Allende Way and Tinsley Park Road

· Relocating the Council’s transport depot on Staniforth Road, and building new houses on the site

· An improved commercial centre for Tinsley, including traffic improvements on the Bawtry Road

· Potentially a new primary school for Tinsley subject to funding

· Environmental improvements to the area around Junction 34 of the M1

The Council and the local community have worked with BDP (planners and urban designers to come up with these proposals. 1700 people took part in the 18-month consultation process.

Councillor Chris Weldon, Cabinet Member for Safer Neighbourhoods, said: ““These proposals represent an opportunity for these three neighbourhoods to be transformed into vibrant, successful places. They are a comprehensive look at how the area can be improved, taking into account the views of the people who live there, and all their requirements. We will work with developers and planners to make sure that the new homes in the area are built to high environmental standards.”

The majority of the regeneration work will be funded privately, not by the Council. If the Cabinet agree the outline proposals they will become part of the planning process, and the Council will start the work necessary to implement them. This will include setting up project groups, involving local people, to oversee the implementation.

Pinders refurb

It may be that this has been mentioned before but below render shows the proposed refurb of Pinders on Moore Street. A whole lot better than what's there now. That stretch of road from the Roundabout to Stoke Tiles needs sorting out.

Anyone know what's going off by Penistone Road? The area boardered by Penistone Road, Albert Terrace Road and Cross Bedford Street. There's been a massive site clearance.

Also, a big clearance behind the Shalesmoor tram stop.

And some cranes/steel structure uphill off Penistone Road, by the Hillfoot Bridge.

Ah right, so crap then...

By the way, anyone been up Spital Hill lately? There's a nice glass-fronted box up there. ONly 4-5 floors, but looks like V3/Home Office-type cladding. With the Community Centre and IRR, Burngreave is really getting a facelift!

Me too, it looks like they have put a glass curtain wall around an existing office block or something, might look nice when it is done..

Is that not Sorby House? Designed by Bond Bryan. Go to http://www.bondbryan.com/main.htm, then 'Projects' and 'Sorby House'.
