Went down to the site of the new market today. Did not take a pic but the white fence you see has been removed, revealing a load of packaged paving slabs or breezeblocks or similar. There were one or two people around two. I reckon we will see foundation work start very soon now.

Weren't the pavers/breeze blocks already there though as left over from when they repaved outside Atkinsons?

Drove past this morning and they are extending the purple fencing right out to the edge of the road, so work has started at least if not slowly.

Bit hard to tell from this phone pic, but the render for the new Moor depicts a load of skyscrapers in Heely! Also I'm not sure I like the concrete sheds. The money would have been better spent on a canopy imo.

on their website it says that the accommodation would be avaliable this September. I wonder if the vacant unit on that strip of the moor is being done-up to be turned into a reception-like area. Looking at the website, the students who (can afford and are expected) to occupy these room would have rich parents and be well mannered.

On their website it states... "limited availability", I guess some rooms may be beginning to get booked up. I guess the occupiers would be a great boost to the Moor area. Most students cannot afford to have a 'hotel-like' accommodation suit with nearly everything you would find in a 4 star Jury Inn suit.

Actually that is a standard price you'd pay per week for accommodation, but that would include bills.

Looking from my office window, I can see there is some activity on the Market site. It look as thought they are clearing and levelling the site. There is a a digger and a roller(?) -although that huge mound of demoliton spoil is still there. I'm assuming that's not going to be a feature of the development!

pretty busy today, the street works are moving quickly, there appears to be ground works already being prepared around each location of a kiosk. The Atkinsons refurb is also in full pace

Does anyone know what the Atkinsons refurb will involve externally? Just a clean?

Not a refurb as such it's student flats replacing the offices that are above Atkinson's first floor

Has anyone seen any renders for this? Given the extent of the scaffold cover I assume they must be doing something externally.
