during the 1990s the Pacific Palisades Hotel was operated by Shangri-La, but they sold their interest or terminated the contract (don't recall if they owned the buildings or just managed them). Their return puts them a half block away from where they used to be.

How is it that they broke the height limit rules? And are any other buildings slated to vie for this new title, of Vancouvers tallest?

^ because their is no height limit rule, just a viewing cone rule.

Vancouver's skyline is very low,now...So I like this tower so much. And the design is not bad

I love when things 'just make sense' and are done in context.

And therefore, I think it's absolutely fitting and really great that the first Shangri-La hotel in North America would be in Vancouver.

It just seems right, and the Asian population is also quite large there.

I'm excited about this one.

Yeah, I remember seeing this in a CX hotels catalogue.

Well this is the most beautiful Shangri-La hotel building ever! I hope Shangri-La will do a great job operating this hotel.
