I was just at my parents' place in Kits looking at it from their front deck. This thing is huge. Has the top habitable floor been constructed? It must be at least 600 ft by now. Great looking building.

Yes we need one at least 750 to 800 ft to finish off the skyline. I would like to see an observation tower go up by the old expo grounds near GM Place. The observatory decks should be around 750 ft with spire going up from there. FAT CHANCE on that. If not a building up to 800 ft with an observation floor or bar on top.

Please someone tell me that the Harbour Center is not Vancouver's permanent highest public vantage point.

It's not, you have Grouse,Seymour and Cyprus as the highest vantage points.

True enough, but I kind of meant a vantage point in the downtown area as buildings were concerned.

Don't anybody get me wrong, I love this building but I'm hoping for a taller one as the "final" skyscraper to complete the skyline, preferably with general public access at the top.

I hate to say it but you probably won't see a taller tower proposed not till another 6-10 years that will be around 700 feet to 850 feet max.

There is never a final skyscraper.

There's the old joke about the Newfie that visits New York and is blown away by all the skyscrapers. When he gets home his neighbours ask him if he enjoyed the trip as they were thinking of going too. The Newfie tells them it was great but not to go yet as it was still under construction and that when it was done it should be even better.

Hmm, that's a bit boxy and there's nothing new in that buliding, but it's not bad. That's quite thin (which is great), but it's understandable that they want to maximize the views.

A fine building in my view! Simple and soaring, without being banal. Now that the Canadian $ is worth more than the US $, I don't think I'll be able to afford to stay at this hotel!!!
