This is exactly what Vancouver needed. The city has an impresive highrise density, but most buildings were of similar height.

The variety of desings and heights is what creates a great skyline (if done harmoniously)

A few pics SFUVancouver took. As you can see their are now only about 9 more levels of cladding to be done. Then the fins will be added.

From what i've heard, there should be an announcement about that sometime this year.

With regards to the Stilts....I've seen a computer rendering for a hush-hush project sometime ago (year or so). It was a building composed of two separate towers. The two separate forms had extruded cores which then became one tower at the top. The design was very similar to the Tuntex 85 skytower in Kaohsiung Taiwan. The premise of the design was that the open space between the two towers was to frame the Lions Mountains with regards to some sort of view corridor. I'm not sure where I saw this computer rendering, but I do believe it was either in skyscrapercity or another forum of sorts. If I find it I'll make sure to post the link. I have a sneaking suspicion what I say was in fact the stilts....One building supported by two would imply a "stilt" like design motif....?

you found it.....that's the one I was referring to!
60 floors high but only 40 or so floors of usable floor area. Those separate elevator cores are kinda cool but result in a building with a low efficiency of leaseable space. Is this proposal really going to happen or is it just a pipe dream?

Great addition to the Vancouver skyline, bwt the city's natural setting is phenomenal but you all already knew that.

Don't expect to see that tower ever built. Not being a pessimist, just a realist. It is as much a vision as was the Fringe Tower.

I wonder how this design will hold up in a earthquake prone area if it becomes realistic.

Well, Beijing was able to design their new CCTV headquarters even though it's in an earthquake zone (and there are earthquake features).

if that is possible, i'm sure that ours is too.
