Look at the noses (4th section) and imagine how much share size they'll add to the building when will be higher:

I know that you like to see workers for size comparo:

Folks - another source for the final height!

"It's the biggest scale model we've ever done," says McCann. "It took us eight months to build it and the model is 34 feet in diameter."

It was built in Toronto, disassembled, and then shipped to Dubai and reassembled. It has six condominium towers ringing the shopping mall and the principal residential tower/Armani Hotel, which will be nearly 760 metres high. (The CN Tower is only 553.2 metres.) The residential tower in McCann's model stands 8 metres.

There's a 2nd clue there. The model is 8m high (the model is built at a 1:100 scale) ie. it's 800metres tall.

Great update!
So how high is it now...
... I reckon around 122.7m already !

I'm guessing 1.7m (5ft 5 is about average for a worker?) and using the average height of the workers standing around in one of those pics.

I wonder how long it will be before it starts passing tallest building records on it's way to the new record! Are we up as high as the Great Pyramid yet? Wasn't there a British Cathedral that held the record for a few centuries prior to New York's skyscrapers (or if we're including structures there's also the Eiffel Tower, CN Tower etc).

Targets?
Great Pyramid - Mar '06.
Cathedral Apr '06.
Eiffel Tower - Christmas '06.
Empire State Bldg. - May '07.
New World record Christmas '07

I ment how tall is the Burj right now.

doubt that, the tallest residence tower close to it is 135m and it is way taller still..
I'd say 110m max.

So it's about 400 feet..more or less. Only 1,900 more feet to go.

Lol.

That's amazing when you think about it.

Yeah DubaiFlo, if that's how tall the residences are but we can only compare it to the residences if the ground at both is on the same level.
Remembering back to thread 1. Burj Dubai is sitting in a hole that's at least 5m. There's 2 basement levels below what we can see aren't there - so although it looks like 110m - it might actually be 120m.
The workers might be slightly smaller than 1.7m, - if they were 1.6m (average) then the calculation would come out around 110m.
Anyway - knowing how fast the core's rising we could be 110-120m by now ;-)
