I don't want to restart any of the height debates, but I've seen figures of between 550m - 750m as estimated final heights in several trade publications. None have dared to go anywhere the mystical 1000m mark, which is interesting!

Like I say, this is just for information - not to start arguments! Let's just hope it ends up really, really tall!

Nope, it's 700 minimum.

The 550m figure was for the grollo tower copy that was one proposal ages ago

It's likely that they want to get all the lower floor plates in before they build the Podium simply because, that's the easier faster way to do it. You can see how thick the 3rd floor plate is. That has to be where the Podium will tie in.

approx 650m/160st for roof + 150m of spire.

I'll go with what Culwulla thinks.

At least 800m to spire. My bet around 830m to 860m.

Roof? 650m to 680m.

It won't be too long.

Damn, 150m is an awfully big spire, even for a building of this proportion.

Maybe you meant zodiac (horoscope)? yes burj can mean tower or horoscope but it REALLY depends on the situation.

Lifts are only limited to going 10 metres per second going down.

Going up the lifts in Taipei 101 have been running at 16.8 metres per seconds without incident and before that the fastst lifts in the world ran at 12.5 metres per second.

The lifts in Burj Dubai will only go at 10 metres per second because they will be much larger double decker lifts rather than the single decker lifts in Taipei 101 :-)

Really? That surprises me that T101 doesn't have double-decker lifts! I know the Petronas Towers have them...

I have a video of the fastest elevator in 2003. It`s from the Yokohama Landmark Tower.
