WOW!!! This things a beast.
Has Dubai enter for an olympic bid? 2016? It would give the city more exposure, seeing how few people in america's even heard of it.
I just checked my connection speed and it's 100mbps, and i can upgrade to double the speed, almost the speed at which this monster is rising.

Just checked http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_Summer_Olympics
Both of our city's are on there, hopefully we will be the last two standing,
looking forward to 2009 when the show down might happen.

2_11_06 Status

Here is an update of the cross-sectional diagram showing the present status of the building based on an image from 2_11_06. Pls note that this image appears to have been taken on the "parking garage side" and as such, the lowest floors are obscured. The core floors
on this side are configured a bit differently than they are on the "concourse side", which is the side that we have gotten a lot of our previous shots from
and the side shown to the left of the diagram.
Still, it is possible to line them up. "Floor 1" painted onto the building is
1 floor higher than the "Floor 1" in the diagram. That's the only
discrepancy between the building and th diagram thus far. Otherwise, the floors line up perfectly.

that's amazing video i should say... as i understood there are about up to 200 skyscrapers could be u/c right now in dubai?

i wish our russian oligarchs spending money on huge project without thinking on profit as well...

thanks. you should have tried the other link it is much faster

well the video does not show all the random highrises in town, 12 - 20F , for example in media city or tecom area, etc. and there are also some taller ones around in town.

but to give you a rough idea, emporis, which is pretty correct for dubai since three of our members are editors there, shows 283 towers under construction at the moment.

162? i want one above 200

but it is reasonable , remember the tower is very slim at the top, which would make it difficult to handle so many people.

I think that because of the climate in Dubai, obs.deck on anything higher would be useless becuase you couldn`t really see much

Podium

The podium seems to be separated into 3 segments by the 3
wings of the burj. One contains a parking structure.
The other will be the concourse entrance facing the lake.
This one will be lower than the other two. The third, I
presume, will contain parking as well. It seems to roughly "mirror"
the parking side on the model diagrams. This is the side which
faces downtown.

But, because other buildings have
risen in between the burj and downtown, we really don't get much
insight into what is happening on that segment of the podium.

Does anyone know what is planned for that segment? Is it
more parking? Does anyone know when it is going to
come up and join with the other segments so that they can
start building the outer lobes of each wing?
