So the NIMBY woman had the case thrown out of court right? So when will these towers be underway?

Isn't it ironic that the blue-blooded, aristorcrat Lady Dido was campaigning against a project that would create hundreds of flats for London nurses and teachers?

It's shows just how out of touch these heritage people are.

According to the developers website it was either towards the end of this year or very early next year. Can't remember off hand, it was posted on the forum but can't remember which thread I posted it in, but you can check on their website for confirmation.

http://www.hutchison-whampoa.com/eur...y/property.htm

Construction will begin in 2007, and will provide approximately 1,260,000 sq ft of residential space and 78,000 sq ft of commercial space. It is scheduled to be completed in about 2013.

Is she really something to do with Berkeley Homes? I thought she fought against them in a court case back in the late90s/early 2000s?

2013? That's not an ambitious schedule!! At least it will start this year.

good, the area around Lots Road has really improved over the last 10 years, but this scheme will be a great boon for the area. The towers should be spectacular, and the old power station is crying out for a makeover. Great views to be had from Battersea Bridge, although when on a push bike, taking eyes of the road isn't that smart.

Or a golden shower, either way one bigoted person has been allowed to delay a scheme for years.

Well miss Lady's Dildo, I should imagine that what the river really needs is water, and plenty of it. It also needs land to sit either side. These are two pre-requisites for a river, and allows it existence. Perhaps you think that London exists simply out of magic, and that it's river, and the necessary developments that front it have nothing to do it.

Yup this one looks good to go. You can certainly update the title to Demo - the high-vis vests are in and doing the business!

At the moment most of the demolition is taking place on the north-east part of the site. I spoke to a worker who said they'd already taken down one of the small ancillary buildings and were concentrating in that area at the moment.

You can make out the diggers and ubiquitous porta-cabins from across the river. This is the area of activity at the moment, with scaffolding rising up the side of the main station building presumably to start dismantling the roof? They were in full demolition swing today.

There also seems to be a soft strip underway in the main power station building.

Big enough to get the skip and lorry inside!

Lets hope it won't be long before Battersea Power Station just up the river sees some action too.
