New Busway/BRT Integrated City Buses (BKTB/BICB)

Well the buses must be highdeck to comply with the platform height of the BRT stops. But I really want to see a new city buses with low deck spesifications in Jakarta

These are really small buses for a BRT line.

Monorail project faces
yet more delays

The monorail project is in limbo as Governor Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has yet to sign a renewed contract with the project operator, PT Jakarta Monorail (JM), due to disputed clauses, which makes the ceremony to launch the project’s construction phase in October last year seem premature.

delayed (again)

but at least the subway is still U/C

Will the construction of Jakarta's new MRT line and its stations result in parts of the TransJakarta BRT routes being closed off temporarily?

yes , some BRT Station will be relocated , some will be merged with the closest station (extending the station ) , some will be re-build after the subway is done

in total there will be 10 "casualties" for the phase 1 of subway construction

Work on underground sections of Jakarta metro begins
10 Apr 2014

INDONESIA: Project manager Mass Rapid Transit Jakarta announced that work started on the underground section of Jakarta’s first metro line on April 4.

Excavation began at Hotel Indonesia Traffic Circle, where there will be an underground station. A guide wall is due to be completed within three months, which will allow a diaphragm wall to be built. The timescale for the completion of this and subsequent station works is four years.

In May the city authorities announced the winners of the tenders for the three underground civil works packages. Sumitomo Mitsui Construction Company and PT Hutama Karya is undertaking the work at Hotel Indonesia Traffic Circle, whereas the other two packages are being carried out by a consortium of Shimizu, Obayashi, Wijaya Karya and Jaya Konstruksi.

Two of the three elevated civil works packages will be carried out by a Tokyu-WIKA consortium, with a consortium of Obayashi, Shimizu and Jaya Konstruksi responsible for the other.

Revenue operations on the 15·7 km line are planned to start in early 2018. An 8·1 km northern extension is planned as the second phase.

Single-trip Transjakarta tickets on the way out

Transjakarta passengers must switch to e-ticketing as city-owned company PT Transjakarta has begun the gradual scrapping of its manual ticketing system.

Transjakarta spokeswoman Sri Ulina Pinem said that the transition began at the PGC 2 shelter at Pusat Grosir Cililitan (PGC) shopping center in East Jakarta.

Kampung Rambutan shelter, also in East Jakarta, will scrap paper tickets as of Monday, April 7, followed by Pluit (North Jakarta) and Pinangranti on April 14; and Kalideres on April 21.

“We target to have e-ticketing throughout all corridors this year,” Sri told The Jakarta Post by phone over the weekend.

However, she said, the e-ticketing could not be applied in Corridor 4 plying Pulogadung-Dukuh Atas 2 and Corridor 6 plying Ragunan-Dukuh Atas 2, pending a legal battle between Bank DKI, which was appointed by Transjakarta to manage the procurement of the e-ticketing system, and PT Megah Prima Mandiri, which provided the e-ticketing system. The two company filed charges against each other last year.

The dissemination of information on the transition to e-ticketing in PGC 2 shelter began in March with written announcement placed inside the shelter. However, when manual ticketing was eventually scrapped, passengers were unable to hide their frustration at having to buy electronic tickets, priced at Rp 20,000 (US$1.70) and Rp 50,000 per card. A single trip only costs Rp 3,500.

As many as six banks have cooperated with Transjakarta since January 2013. Their smartcards can be used as the e-ticket. They are the JakCard from Bank DKI; the E-Money from Bank Mandiri; the Flazz from Bank BCA, Bank BNI and Bank Mega; and Brizzi from Bank BRI.

If the North-South Line of the Jakarta MRT will have a total length of 23.3 kilometres when both phases are completed, then how come the proposed East-West Line will have a total length of 87 kilometres? I imagine they'd have to plan more than one east-west corridor/line.

This is just one East-West Line. The North-South Line is relatively short, connecting South Jakarta via Central Jakarta to North Jakarta. The East-West Line will also connect many suburbs. Alternative 1 is: Balaraja - Tangerang - West Jakarta - Central Jakarta - East Jakarta - Bekasi - Tambun - Cikarang (connecting to the North-South Line at Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta). A second alternative would be a bit more to the south, connecting to the NSL at Blok M in South Jakarta.

Google Maps also gives 87 kilometres as the car driving distance between Balaraja and Cikarang.

Lots of road changes on Sudirman in the past week resulting in the slow lanes moving outwards a bit more at station locations and the fast lanes also moving out in places, my guess the rest done this week. This in turn has made the central median wider presumably so they can start station construction of the stations.

Typical of Jakarta the changes seem to be a little halfed baked, with old lane markings (not that anyone follows them anyway) not being removed before the deviations resulting in chaos at each deviation as cars race to fill all available road space. Never ceases to amaze me how much of the traffic troubles in Jakarta are caused by the way people drive. But I digress.

That I do, though on that side at least they have put in place a line to show the lanes moving to the left (the solid white line on the left of the bus). Elsewhere it isn't quite like that, unless they have done it today.

So what you end up with is cars a bit like the white SUV to the left of the bus just going straight on and then vehicles on the right needing to fight to get in, when all it needs is for people to stay in there lane and follow the line markings.
