Next stop was Palmer:
Cosy little town, ressembling Montana or Idaho: ![]() Only a night stop, however, our journey took us further south to the lovely town of Sewrard on the Kenai Peninsula. On the way there we followed the Turnagain arm, an impressive sea arm that runs dry during low tide: ![]() Alaska Railroad: ![]() A boat tour to Portage glacier that ends in a lake: (the glacier, not the tour) ![]() ![]() Yeah sure: ![]() ![]() The third glacier in two days, Exit Glacier: ![]() ![]() "Well, guys, it's not the most intelligent thing to walk right up to a glacier. In fact, it's rather stupid." ![]() Seward Aquarium: ![]() ![]() ![]() Our hotel in Seward, the Windsong Lodge: ![]() ![]() In Anchorage, on a sea plane flight: ![]() ![]() ![]() Beluga whales: ![]() ![]() More will follow a little later.

From Anchorage north towards Denali Park:
Talkeetna: ![]() ![]() Our nice shack in Denali Park: ![]() ![]() The next morning, waiting for the bus, the only motor transport allowed inside the park: ![]() A whole day spent inside Denali NP, watching and photographing wildlife and scenery. What's better than that? (Well, perhaps Krüger NP is just as good...) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() On to Fairbanks. Esther, a small mining town: ![]() Fairbanks itself is nothing really to write home about: However, they have a decent outside exhibition: ![]() North Pole, home to You-Know-Who: ![]() And on we go, back to Tok: ![]() After a night stop, we leave the US towwards Dawson City. A ride of several hundred kms, the largest part of which without a concrete road: Still in the US: ![]() One of the last outposts of civilization: Chicken, Alaska... ![]() A town called Boundary (how appropriate...it is the last place in the US before entering Canada through the northernmost American border point) ![]() ![]() Da Q: ![]() The first view of legendary (but less than exciting) Dawson City: ![]() I'm crossing you in style... ![]() Anybody at home? ![]() We didn't have enough time to do all of it but we started Dempster Highway that leads all the way up to Inuvik on the Polar Sea: ![]() ![]() Now, that's the Tundra: ![]() These lovely Convair 440s are still doing their job up north: ![]() Down to Whitehorse, towards the end: ![]() Five Finger Rapids: ![]() Fox Lake: ![]() Back in Whitehorse, in the Beringia Museum: ![]() A must for a future political science student, the Yukon parliament: ![]() That was that but I'll give you some in-flight impressions as well: ![]() ![]() This is the end. Hopefully you had some nice minutes. Please tell me what you think!

Wow, wunderschöne Bilder!
![]() Must have been a hell of a trip. This year I went to Europe and, for FINANCIAL reasons, I got to jump from city to city by plane, but in my next trips I definetly want to rent a car and drive around. The Northern North America scenery looks gorgeous!
