that outer layer of glass cladding for presumably solar shading- does anyone know what material creates that gauze effect? i remember seeing it at the uk forum meetup (
!) in feb or whenever it was, and the effect looked like stuck on plastic. i couldn't get close enough to be sure.

^ Thats right! I was causing a commotion by trying to find a corner to point my tinkler...remember that security guard asking me what I was doing over the intercom?

This actually reminds me little of Renzo Piano's Aurora Place in Sydney (a fantastic building), albeit not as tall and as refined (but still great):
![]() from Wikipedia Imagine Crown Place at 190m odd with a massive spire! |

I thought that was the most attractive building in Sydney when I visited. She's stunning! ...and built next to a park so that view will never be hidden behind another 'scraper

Just come across this thread, just as its finishing.
![]() What a great building. Going by some comments, not every one is happy with the cladding. But, I think, in time, it will become ageless. Love the curves on it, like how it looks different from different angles. My only gripe is this building appears to have a side building attached to it which is just a lump and ugly. Otherwise a superb project. Would love to see a taller and a bit slimmer version of this, appropriately located of course. Is that solar panels I see on the sloping roof? |

Thanks for the pics - looking very nice, shame this was not taller as it's a great addition.

Couldn't agree more, I spent a whole day sunbathing in the botanical gardens just so I could stare at Aurora.. it is one of the best high-rise buildings of recent years, surely.. it's so slick! one of my favourites.

I think this has turned out very well. Particularly when the sun is out this building shines. It is one of the best medium height buildings in the city (or is it Hackney). In contrast with many other project, the random cladding works well on this building and seems to suit it (rather than it having been an aftertought). It is somewhat surprising that such a jewel goes up in the city fringe if one considers the crap going up along the waterfront. It is also nice to see that the streets around it get cleaned up. One of my favourite additions to the City.

Brilliant, love it. This with 30 plus floors in the middle would of been epic
