I love it, who cares about the building materials....I just want to see it under construction! Maybe i'll start to get picky once I see at least a third of these "planned" towers going up.

Interesting stuff...when is it due to start construction? It seems Broadgate Tower will not be standing alone for very long! thats good!

have to say I like it - stylish. That northern fringe of the city is coming on in leaps and bounds, and with the new Spitalfields development (which I also think is rather fine, although abit desolate at present), it is clearly a steel and glass dominated quarter, but hey, that shouldn't be a problem. London has masses of fantastic old stone office buildings, but its simply ridiculous to want to regress into pastiche and retrostyle stone simply because they are tried and tested. One of my favourite views is from No.1 Poultry (i.e. Bank) looking across to the Royal Exchange with the Gherkin peaking out the top. Excellent mix of old and new, tis what London is good at. Building stone clad skyscrapers like New York and Chicago did in the 1920s and 1930s would be a backwards step, you don't see them developing such beauties as the Woolworth Tower now, its all glass for the Bank of America Tower at Bryant Park and the New York Times building.

It will have an impact on the skyline too! Its height should be about the same as the Willis building has reached so far - thats about 18/19 floors.

^ Wrong, it will barely have any impact on the skyline. It's only 80m! By comparison, the neighbouring Broadgate Complex (the City's largest groundscraper) and nearby Dashwood House are around 60m. I doubt it will be visible from many places.

Its nice enough, but I'll echo the "oh no not more glass & steel" sentiment
No doubt its better than what's there now, so fair play |

I think it will have an big impact you know. If we could get a image of that area and stick on an 80m tower. It will go someway to filling in the space around broadgate. As I said, 80m is about the height of the U/C Willis at the moment. Just look at the impact that is having, even amongst the core of the city towers. Just image the Willis building as it is now over at the broadgate end.

I doubt it will make any impact from the South Bank being behind all the beasts, but from the north it'll be slightly noticeable. Anyone got a pic of the current site? I'll go and pop down this afternoon if not.

so what? from street level you often don't even see the tallest buildings like the natwest tower. even if it was taken from the 6th or 7th floor of a city building you would see an 80 metre building sticking out. everything above 35-40m sticks out...london is not manhattan. |

H Smith are hard at work on the demolition of the buildings on this site and the big banner shows what's coming. You can just see cranes at Broadgate Tower in the background.
Perhap its time to upgrade this to 'Under Construction'? WWW www.cranesetc.co.uk
