I actually prefer the smaller buildings that the jagged looking building would replace. It's a nicer tower design all the same. The small replacement building either side the opening are ultra dull though.

Plans have been unveiled this morning for a new skyscraper at Leadenhall Street, designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill.
And to add to it, a skyline render from Waterloo Bridge. Not the best quality of picture but it shows what we need to see!
From this angle, this new proposal is just what the cluster needs - a tall elegant building to draw the eye away from the main 'clump' of towers at the pinnacle, providing a slight step down but still tall enough to stand out nicely on the skyline and provide some height variation. Perfect!

Wow... impressive design. Great news for the Square Mile! A building of this size/height in this location should distribute the 'bulkyness' of the skyline better.

upper Riverside is a strange one as in reality it looks nothing like the renders. The finished buildings have flat tops but the additional 3 look like they’ll have slopey tops. Is this actually going to happen or will they all be flat and it’s just manipulated renders to make them look good in the planning stage? Let’s wait and see!

The southernmost towers are being built with those sloping faces.

Nice!

I didn't post that render here as I was waiting on a higher quality version, which can now be viewed in the 100 Leadenhall thread

I think one of the best views of London skyline is from the City hall (and one of the most famous). Developers must pay attention about towers sovrapposition, for example I hope 100 Leadenhall won 't cover the Gherkin from the City hall , because it would be a disaster. It would be nice to have a render with all proposed tower from that point.

P. S I m foreigner i think London has one of the greatest skyline in the world but it seems now that the city begins to lose control about excessive number of proposed highrises and the right distance from the buildings

Sorry for my English :l

Not at all!

My problem is me being too picky, and consequentially failing to tell the whole story. Thanks for stepping in!

20yrs of this forum on and off, dreaming of a time that London actually got a bloody skyline - and that picture above of canary wharf area upper riverside project, really puts things into perspective quite how much things have changed.... London is unrecognisable today to when i was a raving teenager in the mid to late 90's on rooftops of abandoned buildings scanning over the night skyline, with just barely a hand full of towers. its what ive always wanted, shame about the purpose of such buildings these days, but hey, aesthetically, looks great! its the Bladerunner dream i always wanted for my home town. London is truly becoming a skyscraper city, something i thought utterly impossible 20yrs ago.

This is going to be great addition. There are a lot of really nice low rise developments or refurbs in central London that don't get any air time on here as everyone is so obsessed with height on this forum (hence the name i suppose). But its nice strolling through town and being surprised by buildings that you didn't know about..

It will from that perspective.

City Hall (2002) is a relatively new building though. As more new buildings are built, other new views and perspectives will be created for people to enjoy.
