Continuing from post 5997, there have been more developments regarding Baltimore Tower, indicating that a start is near:

^ This is a great tower. The current generation of rapers (Shard, 122 Leadenhall, Heron, 20 Fenchurch St, Vauxhall Tower, Strata, etc) are nearly complete now, with One Blackfriars just getting underway. Only the Pinnacle remains outstanding, and that's due for a redesign.

Of the next generation, I like the following most (favourites first)...

1) One Nine Elms = 200m & 161m
2) W.R. Berkley at 52-54 Lime Street = 192m
3) Baltimore Wharf Tower = 150m
4) Manhattan Loft Gardens = 143m
5) 257 City Road Basin = 115m
6) 145 City Road = 134m
7) Arrowhead Quay = 183m & 170m
8) Canada Water site C/E = 150m
9) Heron Plaza = 135m
10) City Pride = 239m

The reconstructed Great Northern Hotel at King's Cross is due to reopen shortly. The hotel was one of the world's first railway hotels.

An ITV News report on its reopening (5th April): http://www.itv.com/news/london/updat...ready-to-open/

Gorgeous! I am really pleased that so many old and grand hotels are being re-opened and renovated! King's Cross Great Northern Hotel and St Pancras Grand Hotel are prime examples... also the Savoy.

It speaks volumes about the growth of London's wealth and power that now in 2013, decadence (a lost art in the modern world) is making a strong return.

The new insurance building to be built on Leadenhall looks great. Hopefully, a good design will be implemented at the Helter Skelter site.
