New 'Thor' trailer is out... can you name the area

[Thor trailer]
Just watched the trailer for that today, features London fairly significantly. I thought the area was Greenwich. Here's an article on the filming: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansit.../news/?a=69041

... and it's about time they gave the go-ahead to a Pinewood expansion. We really constrain ourselves in this country; Heathrow could do with more capacity, so could our film industry.

Very smart.
I like Thor.
The Pinewood expansion simply must go ahead. With the decline of our armed forces most of the influence we exert will be soft power, you would think that after the Olympics we would build on our success.

They really need to allow another Hollywood studio a permanent base like Warner Bros at Leavesden. Universal or Paramount would be good, I hear Avengers 2, Star Wars 7 and various other films are due to go into production at Pinewood soon. I heard somewhere last year that Disney were considering buying a proportion of Pinewood for their movie productions too. The UK government needs to sit up and take notice.

If only London was featured in many films (and why not even video clips) in the future. It's such a great way of promotion, given that the images (esp aerial) the are shot for the films are extremely high quality. This said, I find it very unfair that when people compare NYC and London, when thinking about NYC (even myself) they usually think of aerial panoramic videos of Manhattan (which is featured in ridiculously lots of telly series aswell, such as Friends and How I met your mother) which show the best bits of NYC only and everything seems just so glamorous, and when they think of London almost nobody thinks of CW or the city. I even believe that a lot-if not most- people worldwide don't even know that London has skyscrapers and great modern buildings, and therefore we need this film kind of promotion!!

London features in a lot of films. Two recent examples off the top...

Fast and Furious 6:

World War Z:

... both also having their world premiere here.

It would be good to have a 2nd major studio, and Pinewood must be allowed to expand.

Star Trek - Into Darkness - Also set in (future) London. As you can see from the picture.

I thought World War Z was shot in Glasgow.

Off top by Glasgow looked really American:

And World War Z used Pinewood: http://www.pinewoodgroup.com/production/world-war-z

As did Fast & Furious 6.

A real asset to the country's film industry, the expansion plans must go through.

It should be noted that the Pinewood Expansion plans are currently going through appeal. They're committed to seeing it through.

Construction of Crossrail has just unearthed 9,000 year old flint tools: http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/articles/49...s-settlers.htm

The discoveries were made in North Woolwich, which is in east London.

Some recent scrapers are featured in Welcome To The Punch.. Looks like The Shard was just topping out when they shot it. At 0:08 there's a panorama of the city looking rather blue.
