London must be hoarding the world's supply of good architects. I haven't seen a design yet for London that doesn't strike me as some of the best architecture out there right now.

I'm amazed at London's construction boom....it's similar to the construction boom going on in Miami at the moment, although London's scrapers are both commercial and residential.

Plans are being announced to redevelop a site neighbouring 51 Lime Street and SwissRe. A figure of 600,000 sq ft was mentioned recently, which could include something quite tall. The leases don't expire until 2011 however, so construction won't start until then.

This is an okay design, but isn't really London. It would fit in perfectly in any Asian city:

Hamiltons Associates and the developer is Multiplex. The turbines will generate sufficient energy to either provide lighting for the whole building or provide electricity for 20 apartments.

I have been to the Maracana Stadium. It's about the size of the old Wembley (albeit with more cramped seats) and nowhere near as big as the new Wembley.

The roof of the new St. Pancras Eurostar terminal. It is one of the largest single span roofs in the world I think. It will be operational in under a year:

Doesn´t this development involve the demolition of a great old building?

Some fairly old buildings will have to be demolished, yes.

The Corporation of London ruled that they weren't historic or important enough to preserve. I disagree with their decision as they're quite attractive, even if they aren't particularly "historic".

It will be several years before any demolition starts though, so hopefully there's time to save them.
