This means that every three minutes around 2 planes land and about the same take off

There is an ongoing commission regarding this. When the commission reaches its conclusion, the information will be posted here.

No, it's only the everyday person that has little to no money these days, due to wage rises being consistently under the rises in inflation. The government meanwhile can just add to the colossal debt. My pessimism aside, I would much prefer this to HS2, considering it costs about the same (neither of the projects benefit anyone much in the West Country though ...).

As an aside, Leadenhall is looking magnificent. Is the plan still to plant trees and create a sort of public space at ground level? I remember some renders showing this, and there is certainly the room.

This looks fantastic! Could you please post this update on the General Urban Developments bit under the "Nine Elms" thread - it is on the 2nd page.

--------------------------

Also, the plan isn't to close down Heathrow if we open the Estuary airport surely? I thought it was to keep Heathrow AND open a new airport? O_o

So its finally going? I remember this proved very controversial in the London forums. It is a shame they didn't try to animate the street by putting in some retail in there, it is a really gloomy little street, which needs livening up.

BTW there's a similar building u/c a bit further down the same street at LSE.

I wonder what the vote breakdown was at the council. I wouldn't be surprised if the ground floor was garage space.

If the Estuary or Island airport is opened, then yes the plan is to close Heathrow and turn it into a high density urban district.

Entire Kingsway needs life, most of the buildings along it seem to be derelict.
