The main conclusion of the report is that the large amount of ongoing demolition work will culminate in a surge of office construction over the next three years.

The Shard is a really great tally. But is it still left almost empty these days?

Regarding the Deloitte survey: Impressive. But smells bubbly much.

There's no bubble in the London office market. A brief glance at the report tells you as much.

Regarding the Shard:
  • Shangri-La hotel commenced operations this month.
  • Al Jazeera will move into the Shard in late summer, as their international broadcasting hub.
  • Law firm Mathys & Squire moved into the Shard in March.
  • Venture capitalist group Foresight will move in later this year.
  • The world's largest hospital group (HCA) will fit-out and occupy in the Shard later this year.

    etc.

Dammit we need the Pinnacle. Hurry up and build. The City cluster needs its apex.

On a more modest note this building is, after four or five loooooong years, finally nearing completion: a new gateway into Camden Town at the top of Parkway (and right next door to my own house on Delancey St).

http://www.nickbakerarchitects.com/m..._St_-_NBA_.jpg

It had a lot of opposition from locals when they applied for planning permission, but it's turned out quite nice. It is also a vast improvement on the grungey 50s concrete tyre garage that preceded it.

They say one bed flats inside will cost £700,000. A measure of how upmarket Camden has gone in 20 years.

Hi lyonshall,

Swiss Re (The Gherkin) building also won Emporis Skyscraper Award in 2003, CTBUH 10 Year Award and so many more other prizes as well.

Congratulations to the Shard, but it is not the greatest skyscraper of the 21st century.

Although it is the first supertall and also current tallest building in EU, it is not the greatest, considering the world is not only Europe.

This looks just odd and totally out of touch with its built environment. Not an inspiring contrast, but a discomforting clash. Repeating the same old failures of the 1970s.
In some modernist development area this could have looked apt, but there...

[QUOTE=GB1;114206325]So london is the financal and business capital of europe ?.[/QUOTE

London is the financial centre of the world. Most of my favourite projects in Europe are located in London too. Frankfurt should be in the list, it has many HQ.

My question. How tall is the Arrowhead Quay tower and in which part of London is it going to be built?

Arrowhead Quay will be two towers of 183m and 170m, located in Canary Wharf.

It looks much better in reality than in the pix. Locals who fiercely opposed it now tend to like it.

It also echoes the very futurist Foxtons HQ across Parkway, so it's not as out of context as you might think.

And, trust me, the thing it replaced was just horrible.

Arrowhead Quay looks magnificent.

In other news, London has just been named the world's most important city, by PWC

I think it is the world's greatest, many agree. You don't, and you are entitled to your opinion.

I suggest we end the argument there!

Once again........in your opinion.

Clearly lyonshall doesn't share your opinion. So it's pointless to carry on arguing about it.
