Wow... great news all round.

I'm really looking forward to seeing that development in Croydon go ahead.

Baltimore Tower is going up a terrific rate! Really impressive.

Organic London Skyscraper?

Article Link: http://www.architectureanddesign.com...tes-occupant-s

Interesting article about a potential Organic Skyscraper that would be built in London.

It looks very much like The Shard though, and I'm not too sure on the design. But the overall concept is quite impressive.

Well worth a read.

London Paramount Theme Park | Swanscombe Peninsula

London forum thread: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1553041

Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paramount_London

Project facts
  • Cost: £2 billion ($3.2bn)
  • Area: 872 acres - world's third largest
  • Completion: 2019

Message sent out to stakeholders concerning this project:

Quote:
London Paramount

The project, which we are calling ‘London Paramount’, will largely be based on the Swanscombe Peninsula on land to the east of Lovers Lane, between the A226 and the River Thames. We are also putting proposals forward for the land that will link the site with Ebbsfleet International Station and the A2.

That doesn’t mean we are proposing to develop the whole site within those borders, but that we are bringing forward a planning application for that area. We are seeking to create a world class, global entertainment destination on the Peninsula that will include an entertainment street, water park, theme park, events space, service buildings, sporting facilities, creative space and staff training academy, as well as approximately 5,000 hotel rooms alongside a wealth of improvements to the transport infrastructure including a monorail linking Ebbsfleet International Station with the resort.

We are estimating the creation of approximately 27,000 long-term jobs in and around the local area, and approximately 6,000 jobs created throughout the construction period. Alongside this, there will be many opportunities for local companies to be involved both in construction as well as operations at the resort.

In May 2014 the Government confirmed that the London Paramount Entertainment Resort will be the first ’Business or Commercial Project’ to be considered a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP). We are currently developing our proposals and we intend to submit a planning application next year. We will be sure to keep you informed and give you chances to share your views as the project progresses towards its target opening date in 2019.

We will be hosting events throughout the next 12 months to meet with local people, share information about the proposals and ensure we understand your concerns and explain the potential benefits. Before we begin to share detail in relation to the project, we want to make sure that we are consulting in the best ways for local people. This is in line with the requirements and best practice set out by the Government’s Planning Inspectorate.

Any source for this? It doesn't look that big on the plan.

At least all those Disney parks are way larger. Walt Disney World covers 30,080 acres of land. Eurodisney Paris e.g. has 4,800 acres. And then there's all those huge movie parks, sea worlds etc.

Are they not talking about Paramount theme parks in that. As in the "3rd largest Paramount Theme Park". That's how I read it anyway.

Actually, I could be mistaken.

Looking into it. The "parks" of Paris actually only total 202 acres. It's the grounds that the golf courses, hotels etc and everything that take the total up to 4,800 acres.

Walt Disney Land Resort is 25,000 acres but again only 1,427 acres are actual "Parks".

Therefore it seems that it'll look something like this between the 3.

Walt Disney Land Resort - 1,427 Acres
London Paramount - 872 Acres
Walt Disney Land Paris - 202 Acres

So it's basically 2.5 of these

^ haha good illustration Birmingham! xD

Sounds good wherever it'll be! However, it sounds like bad news for the likes of Thorpe Park.
