It could be good for Canary Wharf though, which rather lacks of interesting shapes (too many boxes). The City skyline needs more balance and harmony, less freaky shapes and designs.
I completely disagree. The Tower is incredibly harmonious... it's design completely reflects its neighbor The Leadenhall Building. The use of the 'diamond' structure in it's frame is reflected in The Gherkin's facade. In fact this tower does everything to help the over all harmony of the City.

The only thing I would change would be the elevators/lifts on the North Side. I think that's a bad idea.

In regards to the Aviva Tower that is there currently, it IS a shame to lose it (if we do lose it); but it isn't London's most treasured tower nor is it exactly a landmark... only architecture geeks and people who work in/nearby would notice it.

Overall it's a great scheme. The South facing side is absolutely beautiful. However, I'm sure it will need a lot of reviewing.

SE9, how serious is this Undershaft proposal? Do you think it will ever come to fruition? It seems like the design is a bit more considered than the usual massing models that are put forward for pie in the sky nonsense.

What building would you say screams out for attention in a good taste way?

They're very early stage proposals.

In the words of an Avery Associates spokeswoman: "It is very early days and a planning application has not been submitted yet. We have come up with a scheme that is sympathetic to the surrounding buildings."

I just hope they don't call it Undershaft.

It sounds dirty for some reason.

I'm not too sure about the Brentford development... it looks very 70s.

I just think that if more unique architecture was used in such large scale developments, they'd become very iconic for London (like the Barbican was). I wish there was more variety in the architectural styles of these vernacular projects.

I'm 50/50 on this one. It's good we could be getting another tower but it's appearance is somewhat controversial.

Barely a City proposal that isn't controversial to some extent.
