That Underground Cycle plan is a great idea! Love it!

I can't wait to see the Lime Street Tower rise! When will we start seeing a core?

Actually, I guess conventional, segregated, bike lanes fare much better than underground ones in terms of attractiveness, safety, capacity, accessibility, return on investment, and reviews.

Is the quill going to be built on an empty plot or is there demolition of existing buildings involved ?.

Good idea but impracticable...they would simply become a magnet for crime.

And would lone female cyclists really want to venture in them?

I'm glad this is finally going in for planning. I believe it's replacing a 60's building used by Kings College London and the new tower will be residential, unlike the original plan to house student accommodation for KCL.

Here is a link of the architects website regarding the development Spparc Architecture: The Quill

How would it differ from walking down tube tunnels? If they are lit well, guarded at tunnel entrances by staff with gates / cycle passes (similar to oyster) and cameras, what's the problem?

It's just a visionary proposal. Won't come to fruition.
