Does that mean they will destroy the old building? Because by looking at the render, it does seem like it...

Correct, the Odeon West End will be demolished with the new Odeon/Edwardian built in its place.

Originally I was put out that the old Odeon was going - legacy and all - but I think the replacement looks good enough to mitigate concerns.

It's a shame. They should have tried to at least integrate part of the old facade to the new structure.

I almost think that despite One Blackfriars being such a beautiful building, it almost seems too tall in comparison to its surroundings. This is another case in London where the area needs a small cluster of just two or three tall 'ish' buildings to grade the height of the area upwards towards the main tower.

The taller version of One Blackfriars was far more graceful. I'd rather that have been built.

Aren't there a few more tall buildings planned next to One Blackfriars?

Yeah I suppose you're right. Frankly the best case scenario would have been to build the original taller version of One Blackfriars, and build a small cluster of 3-4 buildings ranging from 70-150m.

Really looking forward to seeing Principal Place and One Blackfriars rising.

Is it just me or does progress on Baltimore Tower's floor plates seem to be quite slow?

Thanks for finding that, I had assumed that all of those had been cancelled when they announced the height reduction from the original Blackfriars One proposal.

But to be fair, I still think the area looks wrong, since those blocky buildings look odd aside One Blackfriars, possibly more suited to Canary Wharf. Why can't they encourage what has happened in the City of London, where they are practically force every developer (until that hideous Pinnacle replacement leak) into making curvy odd-shaped skyscrapers that fit in with all the others.

Fire severely damages Battersea Arts Centre in London

They should rebuilt this beautiful building.
