Autothrill said in the New York thread that London doesn't even compare to what's going on in that city. I must admit I'm kind of in agreement. I don't know if it's because they are producing dozens of supertalls but it's giving of that impression. Does anybody know the current investment levels in London. It would be interesting to see.

Most estimates suggest general construction and infrastructure investment in London is currently around £35 Billion including public and private sectors. However it is very difficult to work this out accurately and estimates differ wildly. The only really accurate but is pyblic spending because that is published each year. Otherwise it is nigh on possible to estimate accurately.

Referring to this post?

I can't find any figures to quantify it (no doubt others can, even if it's just a summary of projects), but the level of investment in London is staggering at the moment. There are many, many projects worth >$1 billion: US Embassy (ironically) ($1 bn), King's Cross Central ($3.9 bn), Nova Victoria ($3.5 bn), Wood Wharf ($3 bn), London City Island ($3.2 bn). Then you have the even larger projects such as Crossrail and Battersea Power Station. And Construction Enquirer said in March that there are 70 high-rise buildings under construction in London currently (probably even more now ...) (Source: http://www.constructionenquirer.com/...sites-soar-56/)

None of these projects is a supertall because it is not in London's character (or within planning permission) to build supertalls (excepting the recent Shard); however, that should not be confused with a lack of investment in London ... I would go the opposite way and wonder whether New York can anything to compare with London, but that would be cheeky.
