London Heathrow Airport bids farewell to Terminal 1
BBC News
29 June 2015

Quote:
After 47 years Heathrow Airport's Terminal 1 will close its doors to passengers for the last time tonight.

British European Airways was the first operator to fly from Terminal 1 when it was opened by the Queen in May 1968.

The final departure is also due to be a British Airways flight, this time to Hanover.

Its closure will allow Terminal 2 to be expanded and comes in the week the Airport Commission decides whether to permit a third runway at Heathrow.

Leasing activity in London office market heats up to 17-year high
City A.M.
30 June 2015
Quote:
Leasing activity in the London office market hit 6.3m square feet in the first half of 2015 – the highest level in 17 years – fuelled by pent up demand on the back of the General Election and firms moving east.

Property advisory firm Cushman & Wakefield said lettings in the second quarter reached 3.3m sq ft, led by east London where take-up, at 1.2m sq ft, was at its highest level since the fourth quarter of 2010.

I don't get the point of the White Collar Factory. Where is the architectural merit in it?

It's bland blandness with blandy bits.

So are they to rename Terminal 2 as Terminal 1? You know.. seeing as there won't be a Terminal 1 any more?

^ Terminal 2 will continue to expand, now swallowing up the site of the old Terminal 1. If the new runway gets approved for Heathrow, Terminals 2 and 5 will expand their satellites until it has a full toast-rack layout between the two existing runways (Terminal 3 will go), with a further toast rack between the current north runway and the new runway, as follows:

I personally think a 3rd runway is politically undeliverable at Heathrow, and therefore a 2nd runway at Gatwick is the best option.

The total traffic through London's six international airports is now 150 million passengers pa, by far the most of any city in the world, and 10 million more than its previous peak before the financial crisis:
http://www.caa.co.uk/default.aspx?ca...=11&fld=201505

73,749,469 = Heathrow
38,859,489 = Gatwick
21,294,176 = Stansted
11,024,049 = Luton
3,998,791 = City
1,030,896 = Southend

149,956,870 = London Total
