  • Address: 1 Wood Wharf, London E14
  • London borough: Tower Hamlets
  • Developer: Canary Wharf Group
  • Architect: Herzon & de Meuron

Detailed plans for One Wood Wharf have been approved by Tower Hamlets Council:

- Property Week: Canary Wharf wins planning for 57-storey residential tower

- Architects Journal: Herzog & de Meuron's Canary Wharf skyscraper approved

- Canary Wharf Group: Canary Wharf Group Receives Detailed Planning Approval for Herzog & de Meuron Residential Tower

How many residential units are u/c or planned in the Canary Wharf/Isle of Dogs area?

I think homes are going to be a key in turning the area from financial district (dead outside office hours) into a more well-rounded neighbourhood.

And skyscrapers look good there as they add weight the skyline.

This thread is awesome, so many great contributers, in particular se9, great job. I suppose It helps that London has so much going on so the updates are real actual updates of towers under construction, it makes this thread more enjoyable than some other threads.
Its great to see all these towers going up everywhere, unique for an eu city, i suspect that lomdon will be a completely different city when its boom is complete.
looking forward to seeing what canary wharf looks like when the 50 or so towers going up there are finished, it's my favourite cluster in london

Hopefully not for long. London's might is too great to be bound by red tape and inefficiency.

But is that necessarily a good thing?*

*This is a question and has no negative connotations attached to it whatsoever; thus does not require any sort of overreaction, etc.

I believe so. Especially when it comes to places like Woof Wharf and Nine Elms that are derelict. Happy your question has no negative connotations. Do you mind if I ask you to answer your question? Just to see what you think.

It's not as nice as The Pinnacle but I still like it and I hope it gets approved.

No doubt about it being approved, everyone concerned is too embarrassed with having a concrete stump and empty site in the square mile.

22 Bishopsgate looks decent in those renders. The bottom render in particular showing it in context with other un-built towers is nice. It would be nice to see more renders with all the same towers from different directions

I wonder what it would look like with a spire... I think that a spire could really make this tower..
