Hopefully the roundabout transforms nicely in the upcoming year.

What happened to the roundabout project itself? Is it going to be refurbished?

I love the Lime Street building, I'd be really disappointed if it get the same fate as the Pinnacle.

I just really really like the building and so I am more nervous about the idea of it not happening. I also am worried about the possibility of another crash in the economy.

Circumstances are different. The Scalpel will be 'anchored' by W.R. Berkley, occupying 20% of the building.

The Shard is Over 70% Let // The Shard, Southwark

Link: http://www.cityam.com/229134/the-sha...-from-the-city

Source: City A.M.

Best Bit: "The Shard’s eleventh letting this year, with only four complete floors remaining"

Here's some really positive news for The Shard! I remember not that long ago people accusing The Shard of being a failure in terms of tenants. This is a good little read for a Friday morning!

Quote:
The developers behind the Shard skyscraper at London Bridge have secured another letting after poaching fintech firm Sapphire Systems from the City.

The global software solutions firm has agreed to take 15,700 square feet of office space on level nine of the tower, City A.M. can reveal. It is understood to be paying in the region of £65 per sq ft.
The highest rent achieved so far in the building has been for the entire 26th floor of the 72-floor building, which was let to German-listed IT company Leonteq Securities for over £90 per sq ft.

London Bridge, Borough and the Southbank have become popular hubs for tech firms seeking more affordable rents and better transport links into and around the capital. According to research by accountancy firm UHY Hacker Young, Borough and Bankside are the third and fourth most popular places to start a business after Old Street and City Road, thanks the the regeneration the area has seen.

Ian Caswell, chief executive of Sapphire Systems, which is moving from the Northern & Shell building in the City, said: “We are delighted to be moving to The Shard. The excellent transport links and vibrant local neighbourhood will be of great benefit to our staff."

Sapphire Systems is The Shard’s eleventh letting this year, with only four complete floors remaining, starting at £60 per square feet in price. Other tenants include Robert Half UK, Duff & Phelps, Al Jazeera and Campari Group.

Irvine Sellar, the developer behind the The Shard, said: “Our vision for The Shard was always to create a vertical city that unites an array of progressive companies from different industry sectors, to create an energetic and sustainable business eco-system. Sapphire Systems accentuates this strategy and will join a host of industry leaders already occupying the building."

In my opinion, its success was never in doubt.

I remember this and the Leadenhall Building being the two proposals I wanted to see realised.

Save reveals alternative to Hall McKnight's Strand scheme
Building Design
20 November 2015

Quote:
Counter proposal for King’s College London drawn up by Burrell Foley Fischer

Save and Burrell Foley Fischer have released counter-proposals for King’s College’s Strand campus after a high-profile campaign sank a consented scheme by Hall McKnight earlier this summer.

The speculative plan restores a terrace of dilapidated historic buildings whose proposed demolition triggered a public outcry, ministerial intervention and a U-turn by Historic England earlier this year.

Instead it places the four buildings “at the centre of a fantastic new piece of public realm”, the so-called King’s Pavement which will see that section of the Strand pedestrianised, rescuing James Gibbs’ grade I-listed St Mary-le-Strand from exile on a traffic island.

The proposal has been sent to King’s principal Edward Byrne and Jamie Ritblat, chair of its estates strategy committee as well as chief executive of property firm Delancey.
