Some thoughts on Undershaft:

The building itself seems well designed and pleasant to look at, but I can't help thinking it just doesn't suit the area. I've become accustomed to the unique towers of The City, I see this cluster as a kind of art gallery of Skyscrapers; maybe they don't all fit together neatly, but you can't help but state in awe of the magnificent designs of each individual tower.

Undershaft just seems a bit 'meh', safe, North American. This certainly isn't a disaster and I look forward to see the tower rising, but I'm a bit saddened that the era of attention grabbing skyscraper designs may be over.

Apart from the Gherkin and the Cheesegrater, I would call the other existing skyscrapers of the City neither jaw-dropping nor innovative... Nevertheless, I see your point and sort of share the same view.

I was also including the proposed 'Scalpel' and former Pinnacle in my description, although obviously the latter will no longer be happening. I'd also consider Tower 42 to be quite unique, I can't think of any other like it but I could be wrong. Even Heron Tower is quite stunning in the flesh, but I admit it's not out of this world.

Land Rover builds a London taxi out of rugged Defender
Autoblog
7 December 2015

Quote:
Every automaker has their own idea of what a taxi should look like, but they're all cooked up from basically the same recipe: a tall, front-drive minivan with sliding rear doors and a comfortable (if basic) interior.

But that's not cool, is it? So Land Rover threw that paradigm out the window, and cooked up a Defender taxi.

It's done up all in black with an amber dome light on the roof (like a traditional London taxi), and features a navigation system to help provide "the knowledge" for getting around town. The result, as you can see from the gallery above and video below, looks positively badass – and like a refreshing alternative to the homely cabs the London Taxi Company recently introduced for the British capital, Nissan made for New York, Toyota designed for Tokyo, or the likes of what Ford and Volkswagen have proposed in recent years.

I had thought the same thing when I had saw the latest post on the building, my jaw just dropped.
