Thanks SE9.

That really is quite an astonishing amount of developments in such a small area, especially when you consider the adjacent areas (such as Greenwich peninsular) are not short of developments either.

When you think about it, Tower Hamlets couldn't be more appropriately named.

I wouldn't get too excited, the slowdown in the residential property market is really starting to kick in now and many of these towers will most likely be put on hold/cancelled until the next property cycle (circa 2020).

Of course something will be built in these locations..eventually.

It will just take longer than many people realise.

A fair amount of the larger residential schemes are underway. We will see +200m towers like Newfoundland, 1 Wood Wharf and South Quay Plaza 1 rising in the near future.

The true state of demand for real estate here can only be ascertained after the EU referendum.

That massing model for Tower Hamlets looks pretty awesome! It's a shame there's not a bit more variety in height though, although I understand why. I was reading in the Paris thread that La Defense is Europe's largest business park with 3.5m sqm of office space. Does anyone know how much Canary Wharf/IOD has at the moment and what it will have in the future?

No chance as things stand. The local authority want developments to step-down south of Canary Wharf. I doubt we'll see highrise developments south of Millwall Outer Dock.

Canary Wharf currently has around 1.2 million mē of office space.

According to the City of London Corporation in 2011 (the authority for the City of London), it had 8.2 million mē of office space. This figure would have increased since then.

Found one I took from Greenwich Park in July 1998 that matches the 1990 view. Surprisingly little changed in those 8 years.

Nice projects. The amazing thing about London is that city planners are really focusing on making it a mega city, with more than one CBD. I think this is probably unique in the world. Well I need to buy some property in London and watch it double over 5 years.
