cHemon: That looks like the Phayathai-Rama 1 intersection.

Like Kiku I forgot what Mahboonkrong's old facade was like, until I saw these pics. I remember it for the Kenwood sign though.

Bangkok looks soo awful in the past, poor, dirty, slum, you name it. Today Bangkok is modern, high-tech , more civilized and more clean. The pollution is less and we got modern metro systems.Still there is some things to change such as taking down all the electric wires underground, looks so unmodern and so low-tech, a lot of shophouses needs to be cleaned up and renovated.The slum on the other hand is A LOT less compare to the 80s and 90s.Its also good to see that the government gonna build houses for slum people to live in for cheap cheap rents (1-200 baht per month).I just read for a couple of days ago that Thaksin will tear down all the slum around klong toey and build those cheap apartments for the people there, thats a really great idea.
