I'd much rather have a commercial building as the tallest, as these are often the headquarters of global corporations, large banks, etc. which carry a lot more prestige for a city than a mere residential tower.

i voted comercial, but mixed use seems more accurate for me, just seems like it adds more life than just a bunch of offices,

An example of a mixed used scraper is The John Hancock in Chicago

Lets look at Bangkok for example where it's tallest building is residential. Bangkok still has a nice skyline despite this. Another would be Seoul.

Chicago will be the same in the future once The Fordham Spire is built though it's architecture looks more commercial than residential.

Honestly, commercial skyscrapers look better than residential skyscrapers.

I hate residential skylines especially if they're more dominating than office towers! It give me the impression of a laid back resort town than a busy metropolis.

Same as Miami. I would mind seeing residential skylines but I don't wanna see alot of them on the main CBD or downtown areas.

Residential towers can look good too, you know.

An article posted in OzScrapers mentioned that the more interesting designs are likely to come from residential towers instead of office towers which need a more corporate image.

Best building for a tallest would be mixed use because it has a higher chance that there will be enough demand without killing the market.

The Q-1 is the perfect example of a good looking residential supertall.

A mixed used building would be good for the tallest building as long as the design looks more commercial than residential!

I do not care, as long as the tower does not have ugly balconies or looks like those on WANCH 's pics

That's what I hate about most residential scrapers are the balconies. You'll see alot of that in most high-rise flats in HK!
