For those who want to avoid popups and the effort.

Great pic. Would love to see this angle as it progresses.

just compared the size of heron to the gherkin. heron could easily be the core of gherkin.

Maybe a weird question: But why are all the cranes in the citycenter of London white?

I don't think there's any deciding factor on the crane colours.

Ok. So it's just coincidence. When I was in London, back in 2008 there were also a lot of white cranes.

This building is mediocre. It's basically a box with a spire. Swiss Re, the Pinnacle and the stalled Leadenhall building set a high bar for the City. This building falls short and belongs in Canary Wharf (or America)!

Mediocre? It will be one of the most stunning buildings London has ever had!

@dnobsemajnob.. I think a lot of people would disagree with that. Not every building can be an headline-grabbing icon or weird shape. This is an extremely high-quality design and although more conservative is exactly what the city cluster needs to balance out the more unusual designs like the Gherkin, Pinnacle etc.

I'm serious. What do you think is so special about it? It's a box. However, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

It's not just a box, it has some characteristics of a box, but is much, much more than a box. It's elegant, it's tall, it balances the skyline and will be an iconic landmark for London.

I disagree. It's a box. Indeed, something that, in your words, "has the characteristics of a box," is a box. Your comments remind me of Magrite's famous line in his painting which states: "Ceci n'est pas une pipe."

Nevertheless, your perspective is noted and appreciated.

It's hardly "mediocre". It will be the highest quality office tower in central London. It won't be just a box - it has a number of details such as external glass lifts running up the sides, diagonal cross bracing, three-storey villages, a different profile for every side, and a dynamic lighting scheme, plus how many towers are there with 40 metre spires in London? Precisely none. It's a classy elegant skyscraper that will balance the cluster nicely and bring a fresh modern look to the skyline.
