That was when the original 44m spire was going to be built - the spire was then shortened to the 28m spire we see today, bringing the building's pinnacle height to 230m rather than 246.

Imo, the 28m spire looks just the right height, I was worried it would look far too stumpy, but from the photos I have seen, I've definitely changed my mind!

Firstly, it is One Canada Square, not Canary Wharf

Secondly, One Canada Square is not in the City of London

The Heron Tower is the first building in the City to exceed 200m but not the first in London

The central business district in London, is known as the "city of london".

I think the spire should be placed on the highest point of the building, and to me it looks a little odd from some angles, because it isn't. It does look stunning the closer you get to it though.

I find it odd that some people would expect the spire to be almost half the size of the building. It wouldn't look proportional.
