Europe's largest aquarium installed in London office

Two London companies have installed what is believed to be the Europe's largest "privately owned" aquarium at their development in Bishopsgate, London.

Heron International, a property group, and Skanska, one of the world's largest construction companies, recently saw the delivery of the 70,000 litre tank in the lobby of Heron Tower.

The 12m x 2m x 4m acrylic tank was manufactured in Colorado, USA, by Reynolds and had to be shipped across London on its side to allow it to fit under low bridges.

Steve Evans, Heron International's development director said: "The aquarium is a masterpiece of design and manufacturing, that fits perfectly with the high quality workmanship involved in all aspects of this development."

A spokesman for Heron International told Practical Fishkeeping that the tank was shipped inside a protective steel frame and moved to the correct position when in situ.

"The frame was removed and the aquarium was lifted onto air skates to install it in the entrance lobby. It was then lifted onto a temporary plinth where the rockwork, artificial coral and fish life safety systems will be installed.

"The whole unit will be moved into its final location beneath a steel lantern in late summer."

So, here is my gift to this thread ... I tried my best although I rather have been shopping a bit more (gosh, I did skip Kurt Geiger's shoes and now I can't have them shipped either unless I try via Harrods) ... who cares? this is more fun, isn't it?

And it's good to see how Heron Tower is bulkier than both Tower 42 and the Gherkin.
