It really doesn't. I don't really understand it. This is the building I've seen pretty much every weekday from start to completion

Even something like the HSBC tower seems so much taller in real life.

At 202m and 200m they should appear the same.

It looks taller in photos though, especially a distorted one like that.

Unlike say the Shard where you lose the magnitude of the size of the base in photos, hence taller in real life.

edit: I should add, this is only the case when looking at it from the base.

Angles like this (or ones from a distance) have no such problem.

Remember, unlike 1 Canada Square, Heron Tower peters out, the floor plate reduce in volume at the upper section. There is massive height different from first step in to the top of the spire. Personally I’d say the tower looks tallest when viewed from the West.

Is the tower crane still up? The tower looks almost completed to me.

That will be an incredible view in 4yrs time, as the 150m Heron Plaza and 165m Bishopsgate tower will stand either side of the Heron Tower...

Good lord, that picture is 100% stunning! I find KPF buildings look bet at night. They know how to use interior lighting so well.

It's not them, its the lighting consultants they obviously have good working relationships with.

They do however design the placement of windows, which was more along the lines of what I was talking about. Transparency in certain locations and strong rectangles in others. But I see what you mean, and I totally agree.
