These will be a great addition to our 19 existing scheduled airlines companies, and around 31 non-scheduled ones. They are :

1. Linus Airways

Linus, which is short for Lintasan Nusantara (bridge across the archipelago), has the aim to fill the air transport gap in the country between the existing legacy carriers, and the newly formed Low Cost airlines. They are planning to offer services to eastern Indonesia which will make a major contribution to the economic development of that area. They selected BAe 146 aircraft as the ideal aircraft to serve our routes. Linus’ planned network is predominantly spread across the less dense, less competitive eastern half of the Indonesian archipelago. All flights will originate from Jakarta and other hubs to destinations that will include Medan, Palembang, Pekan Baru, Batam, Semarang and Tanjug Padang. Linus has positioned itself as a lower-cost service carrier and each aircraft will be equipped with 98 leather seats in a one-class configuration.

2. Lorena Air
The domestic airline industry is becoming more competitive with PT Eka Sari Lorena Airlines (Lorena Air) is entering the market hit hard by increasing fuel prices. Lorena Air, which is a subsidiary of transportation company Lorena Group, started their inaugural flight with flying its first two Boeing 737-300 aircraft on June 6, 2008. The company serves theJakarta-Surabaya, Palembang and Pekanbaru.

3. Eagle Air

Established by Rajawali Group, Eagle Air plans to launch a full-service commercial airline by the first quarter of next year. Eagle Air will initially have about 25 aircraft flying on domestic routes, and may eventually fly within Southeast Asia. To expand in this region, It has ordered 16 new Boeing 737-800NG, just like what Garuda Indonesia had ordered.

4. Trans-Air

Para Group, the owner of Bank Mega, Trans TV and Trans 7, has already done the crucial preparations starting from finances, operations, human resources, and safety to launch Trans-Air, which is aimed to get a special segment, that is the executive class. The set prices will be two times as expensive as Garuda Indonesia ticket prices.

Aviastar

Air Efata

5. Air Effata, Top Air, Aviastar

Those airlines are not really new, but they will renew their plan to be a feeder airlines in remote areas particularly in East Indonesia.

Sweet Story about Indonesian-made Aircraft

Asian Spirit, Philippines

Indonesian Made CN 235 has long been used by the Asian Sipit, a Philipine local airline operator. Asian Spirit said that they like it more than Dash-7, LET-410, or YS-11, their other fleets, which are very troublesome. The joked that CN 235's air conditioning was too damn cold. Philippines, I love u. CN 235 fly 5-6 times daily serving many spots in remote cities across Philippines. In peak season, it even flies 12 times a day !! What a tough Indonesian product!
One survey saidthat this aircraft is loved by the passenger,

Tentera Udara Diraja Malaysia uses CN 235 too

Indonesian aircraft maker PT Dirgantara Indonesia had handed over one of two VIP-configurated CN-235 aircraft ordered by the Malaysian air force to Malaysian air force chief General Nik Ismail bin Nik Mohamed in the presence of Minister of State Firms Sugiharto and Indonesian airforce chief Marshal Djoko Suyanto.

The plane ordered in 2002 is worth around US$34.23 million.

The contract for the purchase of two VIP-configurated CN-235 aircraft concluded on November 2002 by Dirgantara's president director Edwin Sudarmo and secretary general of Malaysia`s ministry of defense Hashim Meon.
General Nik Ismail spoke highly of the plane for its technological improvement and quality. He said the purchase of the aircraft was the result of the good relations between Indonesia and Malaysia.

Garuda Indonesia and the quiet big plane order..

Most people don't know that Garuda Indonesia used to be rated as one of the best airlines company in the world for several times. Garuda was also among the first users of Boeing 747-200. I remember Garuda Indonesia's famous ad tag, "We gets younger everyday". How come we never knew this? Simple answer, that glorious time was far before internet was massively used by ordinary people like us.
Now, People would only say about the EU ban on Indonesian airlines to fly to EU countries, which is i believe it's more to stupid political reason. (There are more plane crash in Russia and Brasil by far, yet no ban by the EU).

But hey, Garuda Indonesia 'silently' ordered Boeing 787-Dreamliner which will be the only rival for Singapore Airline's Airbus A380 in Southeast Asia Region. No no, this plane is not as big as the Singapore Airlines' mammoth Airbus A#*), but still, the world put these two types of aircraft as rival to each other.

Not only 1 or 2, Garuda will buy TEN. These airplanes will support Garuda Indonesia's ambitious plan of expansion to regain the glory of the past, by opening new routes, including resuming the route to EU (London, Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt), South America (Buenos Aires and Rio, ..maybe), more routes to cities in Australia, China, Afrika, and India.

The world is waiting for the new batch of Indonesia's giant growth in airline industry after almost all of 51 airline companies in Indonesia are ordering new aircrafts with Lion Air is still leading the way by signing a purchase deal with Boeing for nearly 160 Boeing 737-900 ER. Angkasapura (Indonesia airline authority) soon will expand our Jakarta and Bali int'l airport to accommodate the fast growing of airline passenger particularly in those two cities. Bali will build new airport in new district, a bit far away from KUTA, while Jakarta will build two new international terminals.

BRAVO Indonesia airlines !!

Mandala Airlines expects to fly 9 mln passengers in 2009

Pontianak, W Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - Domestic airline company, Mandala Airlines, has set itself a target to fly eight to nine million passengers in 2009, or an increase of 80 percent if compared with its target in 2008, a Mandala Airlines executive said.

"The increase in the target is in line with the company`s plan to increase the number of its airplanes," Mandala Airlines chief executive officer Warwick Brady said here on Sunday.

He said that Mandala now had 16 airplanes and in 2009 the company had panned to increase it to 20.

Mandal`s fleet at present consisted of five Airbus A320s, four Airbus A319s and the remaining ones were Boeing aircraft.

The airlines has ordered 30 Airbuses to reinforce its fleet and flight services in Indonesia. It was worth US$1.8 bilion. Later this month, or early in November, one Boeing A320 is expected to arrive to strengthen its fleet.

Warwick said that the new airliners would be used to serve new flight routes. "I cannot disclose the new routes yet which would be served by Mandala," he added.

He said that Mandala gave a priority to A320 planes because they had bigger transportation capacity than A319s. It carried up to 180 passengers while A319s could only fly 144 passengers.

Mandala optimistic to fly five million passengers

Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - Mandala Airlines is optimistic that its projected five million passengersin 2008 had been reached, because the its flight frequencies have increased over a number of routes.

Head of Corporate Communications of Mandala Airlines, Trisia Megawati said the increased flight frequencies covered the Semarang - Jakarta and Yogyakarta - Jakarta routes, from three to four times a day.

"Other routes also increased in frequency such as to Surabaya, Batam, Padang, Balikpapan and Denpasar," she said.

The Jakarta-Kupang route will be covered by Mandala planes, and the Kupang-Ende route by Trigana. (*)

Madrid to Bali ? Welcome, Spaniards

Gadair European Airline. From www.airplane-pictures.net/ image10832.html

Bisnis Indonesia reports that Spanish carrier Gadair European Airlines is seeking to establish air service between Spain and Indonesia.

The Indonesian Ambassador to Spain, Slamet Santoso Mustafa, said Gadair is seeking traffic rights to both Jakarta and Denpasar (Bali) via international flights departing from the Spanish capital of Madrid. According to the Ambassador, Gadair's main attraction in flying to Indonesia is the island of Bali, seen as an easy sell to Spanish holidaymakers.

Meanwhile, Musthofa Taufik Abdul Aziz, the Economic Counselor of the Indonesian Embassy in Madrid, reports that more than 30 Spanish investors in held meetings with the Chairman of the Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board, M. Lufti, in Madrid on June 3, 2008. Following that meeting, Gadair wrote the Madrid Embassy on June 7, 2008, formally declaring its interest in opening air service between the two countries. That letter also requested detailed data on Spanish visitors to Indonesia and Bali.

In 2007, a total 17,427 Spanish citizens arrived through Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport.

According to Musthofa, Gadair is seeking to acquire Spain's second largest airline Spainair.

Mustofa's comments predate the recent tragic crash of a Spainair aircraft in Madrid on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 that claimed 153 lives.

Garuda, Saudi Arabia Airlines to fly Indonesian hajj pilgrims

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The government has asked Garuda Indonesia and Saudi Arabia Airlines, two airlines that would serve the transportation of Indonesian hajj pilgrims this year, to always be punctual in their service.

That is the only way of proving that progress has been made in the transportation of hajj pilgrims, the Director General of Hajj Pilgrimage, Slamet Riyatno, said here on Tuesday.

He made the call after signing a working contract for hajj transportation service between the religious affairs ministry, Garuda Indonesia, and Saudi Arabia Airlines.

He said the Indonesian ministry of religious affairs had asked Garuda Indonesia and Saudi Arabia Airlines to pay attention to punctuality in their transportation service for the pilgrims.

Garuda in this year`s hajj season would transport 107,465 pilgrims grouped in 302 flights from nine embarkation points namely Banda Aceh, Padang, Palembang, Jakarta, Solo, Surabaya, Banjarmasin, Balikpapan and Makassar.

Saudi Arabia Airlines meanwhile would fly 86,000 pilgrims in 192 flights from Batam, Surabaya and Medan.

Slamet Riyanto also called on the two airlines to respect the agreement they had signed. He said this was important so that the public would know that there was progress in the hajj pilgrim transportation service.

He said they must assure that the schedule of departures and arrivals of the pilgrims was adhered to fully. He also called for an attention to provision of reserve aircraft.

Regarding the age of the aircraft to be used for transporting the pilgrims Slamet said "for us the most important thing is that the planes must have airworthiness."

The President Director of PT Garuda Indonesia, Emirsyah Satar, said Garuda would operate 14 wide-bodied planes consisting of four B747, B767 and three A330 to serve the transportation of the hajj piilgrims. Meanwhile a total of 692 cabin crew would be employed in the service, he said.

Slamet meanwhile called on would-be hajj pilgrims not to bring hazardous items aboard the planes such as an oil stove, LPG containers, lighter oil, knives, daggers, scissors, hair spray and perfume in sprayer bottles.

Saudi Arabia Airlines General Manager, Naim Hayat, said this year would be the tenth the company would serve the Indonesian pilgrims.(*)

Indonesia Suspends Four Airliners For Lack Of Safety Standards
October 15, 2008 19:17 PM
http://www.bernama.com/bernama/v5/ne....php?id=364774

JAKARTA, Oct 15 (Bernama) -- The Indonesian transport ministry has suspended four charter airliners due to lack of safety standards, spokesman of the ministry Bambang Ervan, was quoted as saying by Antara news agency on Wednesday.

The suspended airlines included Pura Wisata Baruna, Sampoerna Air Nusantara, Dabi Air Nusantara and Atlas Deltasatya.

They failed to comply with minimum safety standard.

The move is one of the efforts to boost flight safety in the archipelago country, which is now struggling to exit from the European Union (EU) travel ban which has been imposed since July 6 last year.

The spokesman said that after the suspension took affect on October 7, the airliners were given three months to improve their safety standard, otherwise their Air Operator's Certificates (AOC) would be frozen.

Plane is a favourite transport means in Indonesia but lack of safety standard has triggered many accidents, killing hundreds of lives.

Indonesia grounds four airlines
From correspondents in Jakarta | October 14, 2008
http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au...-12377,00.html

INDONESIA has grounded four airlines and given them three months to improve safety standards or face a ban, a transport ministry spokesman said today.

A safety audit found airlines Pura Wisata Baruna, Sampoerna Air Nusantara, Dabi Air Nusantara and Atlas Deltasatya failed to meet minimum standards in several safety categories, spokesman Bambang Ervan said.

The airlines have been moved into the transport ministry's bottom safety ranking and have had their Air Operator's Certificates (AOC) suspended with effect from October 7, Mr Ervan said.

"They could not comply with the requirements and safety standards,'' he said.

Four out of five airlines that had their AOCs suspended in July have also been allowed to return to the skies after improving their safety standards, Mr Ervan said.

"But we are still closely monitoring them to ensure they continue to comply,'' Mr Ervan said.

The fifth airline suspended from flying in July, Helizona, failed to meet its three-month deadline and has had its AOC revoked. The airline now has six months to fix standards before being deregistered as a business.

Indonesia, an archipelago nation which relies on air routes, has one of the world's worst air safety records.

Optimism sweeps Garuda Indonesia again

By Stéphane Hanot, Makassar | Oct 19, 2008
After five years of restructuring, Garuda is finally entering a new era. “I am pleased that we started to think again about our network’s expansion, inflight service and new aircraft after so many years of downsizing our network when others just went on expansion,” explained Prijastono Purwanto, vice president of Marketing for Indonesia’s national carrier Garuda during Pasar Wisata. The airline, which succeeded to achieve a profit of US$ 27.55 million in 2007, expects to double its profit to an expected US$ 55.1 million this year.

Garuda will receive, next year, 11 new Boeing B737-800NG, able to fly up to six hours. According to Purwanto, it will then help Garuda to expand its network, as well as its frequencies. Garuda plans to boost its flight frequencies by 22% to 1,960 flights/week with a fleet of 63 aircraft. The airline will fly 53 destinations by next year by adding 12 new domestic routes, especially to East Indonesia via Makassar. Palu, Sorong and Kendari are some of the future destinations being included.

Three new international routes will also be added, including the reopening of Brisbane out of Bali, as well as the launch of flights from Surabaya to Hong Kong. “We forecast our return to Europe by 2010 with the reception of our new Boeing 777 long range,” added Purwanto. Some 10 Boeing 777 will come to the fleet with further options, if the economic situation improves substantially. All new aircraft will now be equipped with new seats in both economy and business class, including in-flight video in both classes. Airbus A330 will also be retrofitted with new seats and individual videos. Ground services are also under review with exclusive services in preparation for premium passengers.

Announcement of Garuda’s integrating in the near future into the Skyteam alliance by both Air France and Korean Air executive, are put back in perspective. “It is true that Skyteam lacks a partner in Southeast Asia. We first have to put our house in order, step by step, to integrate an alliance,” said Purwanto. “We are takng steps to improve interlining, safety, our frequent flyers program and e-ticketing for our international operations, as well as introducing a performant booking engine. Then, there will be no obstacle to integrate an alliance.”

Eurocopter places $42-million Super Puma MKII components order with Indonesia's PT Dirgantara news

Indonesian aerospace firm PT Dirgantara has secured a contract to supply Super Puma MK II helicopter components worth $42 million from Eurocopter.

Formerly known as IPTN, PT Dirgantara has core competence in aircraft design, development and manufacturing of civilian and military regional commuter aircraft, and had an iconic stature in Indonesia, for having successfully made Indonesia's first home made aircraft N-25.

"The contract for the components supply is for 10 years," the company`s president director, Budi Santoso, disclosed in Jakarta on Monday.

Budi said the cooperation proved that PT Dirgantara Indonesia, formerly known as IPTN still remained trusted by international aviation industries as one of main aircraft component suppliers.

"PT Dirgantara Indonesia has since 1976 cooperated to supply components for Eurocopter that produces among others 11 Super Puma SA 330 and 19 Super Puma AS 332 helicopters," he said.

The framework of this agreement envisges a series of training programmes between the two manufacturers for the first three years, including the permanent posting of an Eurocopter team in Bandung for technical assistance and exchange of technological know-how.
The operations of serial production are due to commence in 2011.

The Indonesian comopaniy's partnership with Eurocopter began in 1976, with the licensed manufacturing of 118 BO 105 helicopters. This first joint cooperation was followed in the 1980s by a full licensed production of 11 Puma SA330 and 19 Super Puma AS332 helicopters.

Indonesia seeks 'partial' lifting of flight ban
27 October 2008
The Jakarta Post

National flag carrier Garuda Indonesia may be allowed to fly to Europe as early as November, with the government seeking a "partial" revocation of a ban on Indonesian airlines from entering the region.

The European Commission (EC) ban applies to all Indonesian airlines, but with efforts to lift the ban progressing slowly, the government is now calling on the EU to revoke the ban on Garuda at least, Foreign Minister Hassan Wirayuda said here over the weekend.

Hassan was part of an Indonesian delegation, led by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, that visited Beijing from Oct. 22 to 26 to take part in the seventh Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM).

Leaders from the two continents used the ASEM summit to discuss measures needed to tackle the global financial crisis. The meeting turned out to be a prelude to a highly anticipated summit of developed and emerging economies in Washington next month to draw up collective measures to prevent the world from slipping into recession.

On the sidelines of the ASEM summit, Yudhoyono met with Jose Manuel Barroso, president of the EC -- the executive arm of the European Union -- and French President Nicolas Sarkozy who is the current EU president.

Hassan confirmed that Indonesia's request to revoke the ban on Garuda was one of the issues discussed during the meeting with Barroso and Sarkozy.

"The response was good. It (partial revocation) has happened before. They said they would look into it," he said, adding that a decision might be made during the EU meeting in November.

Garuda has no direct flights to Europe but had hoped to introduce some. The airline claims it has met all the necessary requirements on safety standards and has boasted a few awards from internationally recognized aviation safety agencies.

The EU imposed the ban in mid-2007 due to safety concerns following a spate of fatal accidents involving Indonesian airlines.

Garuda president Emirsyah Satar said the company appreciated the government's efforts and would leave the decision to the EC.

"On our part, I think we have done enough (to meet the safety requirements). It's out of our hands now. We'll just have to wait and see," Emirsyah said Sunday.

Garuda delays new route plans

THE global economic crunch is hurting Territory travel as a planned new flight route between Darwin and Indonesia has been put on hold.

Garuda Indonesia had planned to start a thrice-weekly Darwin/Jakarta service in mid-December.

But NT general manager Syahrul Tahir said Garuda would delay inaugurating the route, with flights now planned for later next year.

He said the global financial crisis had affected exchange rates and business travellers were reducing their travel plans.

Mr Tahir said customers booked for December flights had been transferred to the Darwin to Bali service, with a connecting flight to Jakarta.
