It's a great tram network, only a pity that the western side removed most of their lines. I wish they would start to rebuild them in the western part of Berlin.

More Melbourne Tramway Photos

Taken in just an hour this afternoon:

In Melbourne, travel on the City Circle Route is free (these trams are actually chocolate brown rather than red, it was the low late-autumn afteroon winter sun that did this):

Unfortunately for Yarra Trams, the service operator, the population have got the idea that this applies to the system as a whole, so trams rely mainly on external advertising to maintain their revenue. Here is a Heineken Beer tram, & an enthusiastic commuter:

an "Age" Newspaper tram: No. 1 for Footy:

a tram for real-estate investors:

and a tram especially camouflaged so no-one can see it, and hence can't use it to evade paying fares (note that even the destination boards are deliberately fuzzy):

Yarra Trams without commercial over-painting ... looks like they don't do much maintenance out at Brunswick Depot.

and a genuine Melbourne W-class tram in it's original livery (passing the Remand Centre)

The color of the line 2 represent the mentality of the city:
multiethnics, tolerant, young, fiesta...

Montpellier is the city who know the must developpement in France.....in population, in business etc.....

After the World War 2 the city has have 80,000 habitants and now the agglomeration is most of 500,000 habitants.

The 3 line will inaugurate and build in 2007 or 2009 to go to the sea.

Melbourne's route 109, heavy rail converted to light rail, which meant changing the tracks to standard guage and bumping down the voltage on the overhead.

Cool map. I'm curious, do you know who made it? It's obviously not the TTC.

It's says right at the top right corner: "A Communicarta Style 45 Design".

I've seen them before, they're quite neat.

Blackpool's tram map:

The Tram line was the first in the UK and is 12 miles long and it's rolling stock dates mainly to the 1930's, with the odd tram from the 1980's.

It mainly runs along the coast and connects the tourist resort of Blackpool with the fishing town of Fleetwood.

It carries around 7 and 8 million people a year.

Last month the UK government announced it was going to spend 60 million pounds to rebuild the line and buy 16 Low Floor modern trams and turn it in to a modern Light Rail line.

These are some pictures of the system:
